I've seen too much of this back and forth over the years to attribute any special effort being made on Amazon's part to thwart an individual's efforts against them. They do what they do, whenever they decide to do it. They're not "watching the forums" to see who's getting close to breaking through on anything by any means (sorry if that pops anyone's notion that they've gained any sort of notoriety in Amazon employee circles).
Of course they're not watching this forum. They're watching GitHub, though. Because almost immediately after Satsuoni hacked the then-current version of K4PC, Amazon released another which specifically thwarted Satsuoni's method. Satsuoni found a way around it again, though. So apparently now Amazon has decided that rather than continue playing everlasting cat-and-mouse they'll replace the entire app.

I'm sorry. But you're attributing too much relevance to Satsuoni's efforts (valiant though they may be). Correlation does not imply causation.

And I never meant watching Mobileread specifically (though there have been people in the past who claimed they were). Perhaps you noticed my quotes around "watching the forums" ? I just meant "spying on the niche group (via the internet)" who take a temporary interest in figuring these things out.

No, I'm not. As I said, Amazon released a version that specifically thwarted Satsuoni's method of retrieving the key, soon after Satsuoni published their method on GitHub.

And again - replacing the entire Kindle app at the same time as their other attempts to stop DRM removal?

"Specifically thwarted Satsuoni's method" is not really a thing that can be verified. They (Amazon) made a change that broke the current DRM removal (as they have so many times in the past). The fact that it happened shortly after Satsuoni's publishing of their methods is nothing more than correlation. Had they done it again and again and again, then THAT might prove causation. And saying that the new app (which is still not available by the way) is somehow the next response to Satsuoni's efforts is not very likely either. Considering that work on this latest Windows 11-only app very likely started long before Satsuoni broke into the cookie jar the first time.

You're forcing me to say it again: Correlation does not imply causation. The fact that a few things that you've decided are DRM-motivated happened relatively close together does not prove that all of those things are DRM-motivated.

I guess you didn't read the above post that said "the new Kindle will make use of TPM", which is what prompted the question. That could be interpreted as "the new Kindle app will make use of the TPM on the computer that runs it" or it could be interpreted as "they are looking at adding TPM capabilities to the new Kindle hardware". Hence the question to clarify the comment.

Conversations are indeed useless when answering the question is not the goal, ... pouncing with an insult is.

Considering this entire discussion including the title is about a new Kindle app and that in the message you quoted a fragment from, the full sentence read "I think it's because to have Windows 11, you need TPM 2.0 and the new Kindle will make use of TPM.", I would have to agree that you turned east at next Wednesday in thinking the message you part quoted referred to a new Kindle eInk ereader.

Yeah, definite possibility that I misinterpreted what was said. Which is why I asked the question. That's certainly worthy of an insult, according to some around here at least. Threads do expand, and do sometimes deviate from laser focus on the original point more often than not. It's not unfathomable that a thread where we've already strayed into talking about TPM might serve as a lead-in to talking about the possible use of TPM in Kindles themselves. It was just a question to clarify the original comment. Your initial response to that question was appreciated.

You have your opinion, and I have mine. In my opinion, yes, Amazon responded directly to Satsuoni's method by releasing a version that broke it, and yes, all their recent steps are certainly DRM-motivated. You haven't actually offered any arguments against it, only that you personally don't consider it likely. Well, having closely followed all the developments in DRM removal and all the steps Amazon has taken against it, I consider it extremely likely, and my opinion is no less valid than yours.

Side note , one of the requirements to installing kindle app in the store. A Microsoft sign in . Microsoft has been struggling with people still struggling vto sign into their email service. This maybe one of the delays of launching the app.

Just to make sure it doesn't get lost in the noise of this thread, DRM can still be removed using K4PC (although not the most recent version?).

Yes. You have every right to believe that your opinion on these things is infallibly correct. Including your implication that you've perhaps followed developments (and the steps Amazon have taken against it) in DRM removal more closely, and longer, than I have.
