Anyone find it weird this is coming after the drm free decision . Also maybe a good next move is to try ask more publishers to go drm free if possible

So is my understanding right . Books brought before that date will be able to be sent to older devices. Or nothing at all after that date

I'm pretty sure they want to prevent Amazon exclusive books from being uploaded to shadow libraries. And most of those aren't from big publishers.
It's about controlling their exclusive content and Kindle Unlimited. |

The thing is, no one bothers with scanning or screen capturing these days. The vast majority of pirated books are "liberated" using the deDRM tools. As the revenue from their exclusive content and KU is important to Amazon, they want to stop this practice.

There is no such thing as a Paperwhite 1st generation. Calling it that is a mistake on Amazon's part. Perhaps this can be used as a the basis for a complaint when those devices are cut off. "What do you mean my Paperwhite 5th gen is no longer supported? That wasn't in your list of obsolete devices!" |

I think they have just decided to use a very convoluted way to announce that they will no longer deliver KF8/azw3. |

Today I did convert a KFX to ePub and it wasn't all that bad to edit from there.
