I confirm that it's great now.
Four instances of Sigil and all previews refresh instantly.
Great job! Thank you!

I spawned 8 instances of Sigil and can't see a difference between opening Preview on any of them. Copy/paste is rather handy.

I'm glad to see my hypothesis was correct. I have to ask though, why do you use caches at all? The point of the caches is to speed up http fetches for unchanged resources, and store cookies, etc. Here we are loading things from disk anyway so a cache doesnt really help. Storing cookies for ebooks is arguably a mis-feature. I use off the record profiles in calibre precisely to avoid these issues. I suppose it's to persist dev tools settings? It's a pity that the storage location for these cant be controlled independently.

We use disk caches because epub3 allows remote resources for both audio and video resources and caching them on a local disk really helps Preview reload performance which editing does again and again. It also allows local storage for javascripts and that is where the Inspector also stores its long term settings.

BTW, thanks for your hints on what was going on!

Interesting, you could intercept requests for remote resources and cache them yourself using QNetworkDiskCache or cache in memory. As for persistent localStorage/cookies I am not at all sure ebook viewers should allow them at all. Anyway, this is just me musing, am glad I was able to help you figure out the cause.

When I tried the regular 2.7.0 release a couple of days ago, I did see the delay on second and later instances of Sigil in Windows 11.

I just tested your new build on my Windows 11 box (upgrade from W10), and there is no perceptible delay in Preview updates. So the fix works for me.

Yes that is doable but I am lazy and felt why reinvent the QWebEngine cache? It is only Windows that has any issues with it. But if more issues do come up, we may have to do our own caches and manage them ourselves.

Thanks again for your help.

Seem to work great with multiple instances opened. If I notice anything down the line I'll keep you posted, but it looks like its fixed for me. As always, thank you for the incredible work!
