Hey!

I couldn't find any info if the google drive import function will be also in the "older" Scribe products. Currently, I could grab the Scribe 2024 Version for 240 Euro (directly from Amazon). But the Google Drive functionality is pretty important for me.

There are not any details that I've seen either.

The latest firmware update has some hints:

Quote:
There are indications that sideloaded PDFs will be converted to KFX format (YJBackedSideLoadedBook) in order to allow handwritten annotations. KPPMainApp includes "convertToYJ" and code from kindlegen. (It would be nice if they would also convert EPUBs on device but I'm not holding my breath.)
If it is capable of on-device conversion, then I would expect ability to browse and directly download supported file types (PDF, ePub, DOCX, RTF, TXT, etc) from GD and OneDrive.

And then there would need to be a way to export annotations or marked up documents. Currently that is just in a 'flat' PDF, generated by cloud service, accessible via email link, but maybe you could browse GD/OD for destination and Scribe would generate PDF on device and save it there.

At least that would make some people happy that it didn't go through some Amazon service. And it would also work around the size limitation of Send To Kindle service.

But still does not answer question whether 2022/2024 Scribes will get this feature, given that they have less powerful CPUs.

It would also placate security requirements for some businesses, which might have bans on using the Scribe for company data under the current system.

Yes and the high price would not as much of an issue for business use, as it is tax write off.

It would need to work with the 'corporate' flavors of GD and OD too, and restrictions on how those documents could be exported/shared when those are used.

No business should be using any Kindle unless it's never online, and the Scribe is the worst for Business privacy. No other gadget designed for PDF annotation needs the Internet or server, as far as I know.

No-one else requires PDFs to be converted. The PDF spec includes adding extra layers and everything needed.
