grrr...
after months of having a perfectly working 700... well...it just doesn't. updated the sony library. plugged my 700 to my pc. everything seemed fine. closed it out. removed safely from computer...pulled out usb. tried starting it up: enjoy the new revolution in reading! yep. tried everything everyone here has suggested. pc won't even recognise the 3 drives from it. sigh. |

I'd tried doing a reset (to get around some 'stale book record problems that may or may not have been real) and ended up with the Blinky Yellow Light of Unresponsiveness. |

Frozen Screen on PRS 700
I found this forum after my PRS 700 died in the opening screen, and after reading all the posts, I did a soft reset, then connected to the USB port
and while trying to copy the contents of the reader in another folder, found out that the XML files on the Cache extension was corrupted and could not be copied. (I think this are the ones that keep your notes on the reader). I deleted those files and disconnected the reader. It came back to life! ![]() I have two questions, First, if you want to format the reader while connected to the computer, should I use FAT or FAT 32? and then has anybody tried to do a hard reset as explained in reply #19 and when prompted to format the e reader answered NO and have the reader come back to life. Thank you for the great Forum Miguel |

My experience with the sony loredo facility is all bad. Isent in my mp3 player which arrived at the loredo location on dec 27th and here it is feb 3rd and still have not received my device. When i call i'm given the same line "it will be shipped in 3 to 5 days", or they just can't find it.

elcreative...
can't say i don't agree with you. however, since i'm here...i'm happy to report that the same prs700 that was causing me problems...has been working perfectly since then. a year and a half of problem-free usage. it's still my favorite reader (despite the readability issue) b/c of the built in light. |
