My comparison: Oasis vs KOBO Aura H2o 2eme edition :
For me, H2O (aura) has better contrast and despite the lower resolution, a sharper font than Oasis.

Thank you for this. It just puts the final nail in j.p.s's incorrect opinion that Kobo Readers do not have better image display and better contrast then Kindles.

Dithering is but one aspect of image quality, and one that has zero relation to contrast.

That's the 2017 Oasis and H2O 2nd gen. The contrast between the 2019 Oasis and the Libra is no longer in Kobo's favor.

I took some pictures with my phone (I have no dedicated camera). The frontlight is more or less on the same level. No warm light. The font is Caecilia, with no weight added (with other fonts the difference in contrast was even bigger). The books are sideloaded from Calibre in azw3 and epub (The Wheel of Time is kepub). I have not modified the photos in any other way than rotated, straightened and cropped.

The Oasis is on the left, the Libra on the right. IMHO the Oasis clearly has better contrast. Not that it bothers me while reading, it doesn't.

KOBO-Libra is not a very good contrast (contrast of an equivalent book) compared to KOBA-FORMA, which has significantly better contrast of both H2O and Oasis_10Gen.
* Unfortunately, I no longer have Oasis or KOBO-FORMA for photo comparison.
But I owned both devices and the form had better contrast and fineness of the font..

.. Compared to KOBO-LIBRA vs Oasis, OASIS is of course better on that.

It would be interesting to see an Oasis 3-Forma comparison. I've never seen the Forma in real life.

The Voyage had the best contrast of all the ereaders I've owned.

Personally I find the Libra contrast good enough. But then I found the 2017 Oasis good enough too. I guess I'm not very fussy about screen quality, although I do notice the differences.
