People just see "radiation!" and freak out.

Bananas are actually slightly radioactive, though you'd need to eat a few million of them to get poisoned.

And eating too many carrots can lead to carotenemia.

Though the claim that you can catch a virus from your computer remains an urban myth.

And if you destroy the bacteria in your gut, you can get some rather nasty opportunistic infections moving in!

Whenever they have included it the howls of protest from the anti-MS crowd force them to remove it --- I wonder if they are the same crowd who claim the SARS-Cov2 pandemic is a conspiracy perpetrated by Bill Gates.

An occasional false positive might be acceptable, but a missed positive much less so.

To their credit, on being informed of the problem Avast removed the infected CCleaner from their downloads page immediately, predictably the crappy click-bait laden download sites like CNN didnt. The reputational damage was borne by CCleaner and its sister products - most people still don't know Avast gobbled up Piriform.

That wasn't the first time a program acquired in an M&A deal was deliberately infected by a disgruntled employee.

Gotta love how so many thing Windows Defender is not good when really, it is good. They didn't want Defender there because it would show how the others are lousy and they paid for them. HAHAHA!

It's like the old saying goes, "A fool and his money are soon parted." Ever since Microsoft came out with Windows Defender only silly people buy AV software. Windows was such a magnet for viruses that Microsoft *had* to start dealing with it rather than rely on the AV vendors to solve the problem. And they're the best ones to deal with the problem since they wrote Windows and can eyeball the code to see what vulnerabilities a virus is exploiting.

Windows Defender gets very few false positives. I've had none at all since installing Windows 10. Microsoft updates the virus definitions quite often. So it's kept updated.

To get back on topic, what other AV is known to give Calibre a false positive?

I've gotten more than a few false positives with Defender. I just exempt them though.
