I have the sound turned of mine, and if someone tries to call me and later asked my why I didn't answer I usually go "Oh, I must not have been at my desk when you called"

Good thing I have a job where I need to go down into the data-center from time to time. And also that i am not required to speek to customers on a regular basis

here is a solution i've found very effective :
- for wireless phones (without on/off switch) : remove battery.
- for old-school wired phones (without on/off switch) : follow cord to wall : unplug.
