Personally, when I hit myself anywhere with any kind of implement for building things, which happens quite often actually. But I blame that on not being the constructionworker type person, hey, I'm an IT-geek you know? Anyhow, I prefer screaming my invectives in Swedish. Since swedish is kind of a harsh-sounding language, it sounds better than doing the same in English really.

This weekend, as I came as close as I ever have to having a close encounter with my table saw, the only sounds that could come out of my mouth were, "Oh, shi, oh, shi, oh, shi!"

Oh dear, I wouldn't dare go near a tablesaw. I am most likely one of the only people around who almost managed to cut my foot of in a hydraulic log-cleaver (is that what they are called) during the summer when I needed to increase our store of firewood. Good thing that my wife came out and spotted me and sort of come up with the bright idea of yelling "DON'T DO THAT!"

I had a close encounter with a table saw once. It kicked back the board I was sawing and ripped the tip of my left ringer to the bone. I don't think I was able to articulate even an "Arg!" let alone anything intelligible.

Finger went immediately into my mouth. I know, Ricky. Not the most sterile place to put a wounded finger. Just instinctual.

Well, at my place me and wifey now have this deal, I'm cooking and SHE is in charge of all the powertools

I actually went on to finish the toe-boards I was making and got out the power nailer to install them. And finished the threshold to the new dooe we installed last month and now the dining room is done except for three pull shades and a minor patch fo rthe hardwood floor.

It's a piece of wood attached to your toe (not really though, just my way of saying I have no idea)

When you install hardwood floors, you go up to the broad board at the bottom of the wall called the mop-board. Then, to cover the gap needed for wood expansion in high humidity, you put on a smalller, variously shaped toe-board that gives the whole thing a sculptured look. My house, being 90 years old, is missing a lot of toe-board that I have to make on the table saw, so I am doing this room by room. I've never been that interested in power tools (other than the angle grinder - that holds a fascination for some reason). I do like all the non-power tools though. I'm forever looking for an excuse to by a Stanley FUBAR or an axe-handle (sometimes I only want part of the tool), some bolt-cutters, a pickaxe. Call me the most boring man in Queensland, but I've always had a fondness for a good shovel (and pitchfork). Oh, and I've always liked the idea of owning a really nice, aged-but-cared-for scythe.
