I'm totally conflicted right now..

I absolutely prefer the hardware of the Nook Glowlight Plus (2019 - 7.8") the most. Like others here, I didn't realize until trying it at the store for a good hour just how nice it his to be able to grip it with one or both hands and at any moment use whatever finger feels like changing pages.

I had a Libra for 2 days and returned it. It was a great device, but I felt like it was too "in the middle". If I'm going to go bigger than 6" (Clara HD and Kindle PW2 around house), 7" isn't enough and one might as well go whole hog to 8" class devices. It's really nice to have so much on screen and fonts large and pleasant to read and so much less page turning (especially vs 6" devices).

So one would think the Nook GL+ would be for me -- but man the Kobo software is so great. Honestly I really only read sideloaded books anyhow (no library or store purchased), but I do enjoy my Pocket account. On the kindles there are some web services that allow your Pocket articles to shoot over to the Kindle on schedules, etc.

Are there any such options for Nook? Even a different read-it-later service that would work with a Nook? I'm not wedded to Pocket at all.

I wish the GL+ was a bit lighter, but for a device that size, it's honestly ok. I just love those large bezels that are easy to grip - wide- so comfy with the rubbery surface.

I wish I could have a Nook Glowlight Plus with Kobo software. LOL

You aren't the first to say that, believe me.

Have you looked at the Kobo Forma? It's basically the Kobo Libra, but with an 8" screen instead of a 7" screen.

I've looked at it - yeah - the price is holding me back a bit and I'm not sure if I love or not the whole "one side has buttons" thing.

I thought I would love that with the Libra - and it wasn't bad - but it's amazing how nice it is on the Nook GL+ to have buttons on both sides with large grippable bezels. I know the Nook designs are a bit subjective with folks, but I really love them from a usability standpoint, which to me matters the most.

Do we know if the "issues" people bring up in Forma reviews are real or not also? I really don't want to buy something and have any weird issues with the screen, etc.

I agree with you on Nook hardware. Typically I find it to be nicer than the competition. As you can see, I own a number of Nooks myself.

But the Kobo firmware is just so much better.

I don't have a Forma myself. A 6" screen works for me.

But the nook software is meh at best. So go for Kobo as the software is so much nicer. And Calibre supports the Kobo so much better. You can do so much more with a Kobo.

Yes, there is what appears to be a brighter sidebar of light running down one side of the screen away from the text area. Some people find this objectionable. Some people say they can live with it. Some people find that it doesn't exist.
