Beta testers needed

Getting the image report in the editor I get the following error:

I tried to install the calibre portable beta on Win10 on a pen drive. It was installed over the top of a working 3.40.1 production version.

This was the error I got.

@jackiew: could you please post the gui.py from your calibre config folder, apparently it has some setting that is failing to migrate.

Because the beta failed I already reverted back to a working production 3.40.1 of calibre portable. Attached is the gui.py from the working version.

If you need me to retry beta 3.40.5 and post its resulting gui.py, let me know.

@jackiew Thanks this was caused by some really old setting for the LRF viewer. I will add a workaround for them.

Yes, it's working now for me, and no other problem with the image report, so it should be the book.

The upgrade from calibre portable 3.40.1 (production) to 3.40.6 (beta) ran OK this time. I also tried every plugin and Editor tool (mostly personal) that I use regularly. There were no crashes nor any other obvious problems.

I have been using the 3.40.6 for 2 days, mostly the Editor, and found no errors. However the Preferences (Cltrl+P) is found under Help menu as well.

Why do you want a new beta ?

That said, I imagine there'll be one when Kovid is satisfied version 4 is ready for beta testing.
