Definitely I´m a hoarder waiting since my chidlhood to the "Big Anything that Change the Wold as we Know it" and also knowing that if that happens anytime, I´ll have the books with important information and history to help rebuild it.

I know that is only a child´s dream but it is also very comforting... especially during winter nights...

Well, I have a huge stash of yarn, so obviously I consider buying yarn a separate sport from knitting. I considered buying books a different hobby than reading. And I definately consider downloading a separate activity. Fortunately, because I don't even have to get up from the couch, downloading ebooks is a pretty quick process. Especially if you check Mobileread, where the kind souls list free\bargain books. Thanks Mobileread!

I voted "Other". I use the fictionwise Wish List as my pain free stockpile. As I see books that interest me I drop them in there and when a sale comes along and my downloaded pile gets low I stock up again. Where the books aren't yet listed on Fictionwise I use my GoodReads bookshelf "Thinking About It" to make a note so I don't forget.

The one's I actually pay for I mostly read right away. The free ones I read eventually.

I'm a hoarder too; my to-read is at a whopping 57 books..

The problem is I get stressed out knowing that I have so many books that I want to read.. Then I rush through the books just to get to the new ones..

ARGH it's killing me... STRESS!!!!! I need about 2 months off work to just READ... Why does work have to get in the way of my reading??????

Work, work GO AWAY!! Time to read..

Hello, my name is Shoechick and I am a Hoarder! 129 unread on my 505 and about another 180 on my computer. I have a lot of freebies, in fact all the 180 on the computer are freebies, paid for I keep on my reader until they're read. Downloaded the 100 freebies from the Sony Site and then went nuts elsewhere. Have a very hard time passing up free if it looks interesting. I am trying to cut down on my buying until I get through a lot of what's already on my reader. I went nuts on bundles when I first acquired the Sony last year.

I have nearly 100 books in hardcopy from before I got the Kindle, and that's only made buying easier.

EDIT: Ok, I thought I was bad until I saw toomanybooks' post above mine. WOW!

Another one for the hoarders. I hate the sense of dread I get when I'm running out of books, feeling like the best may be behind me. Always good to have plenty in queue. This is especially the case since I am slightly finicky (not snobbish, just particular) about what I read.

On my PDA I keep everything on 1 128 mb card and download several at a time. With the Sony I keep 9 or 10 downloaded and delete when done reading to make room for more. Probably I will stop doing that and quit being so lazy.

Of course I am hoarding.
Just a few weeks ago there were three novels by Boyd Morrison available. So far I have read the first one. The author found a publisher and pulled down the books. So if I want to read the Palmyra project, all I have to do is look it up in my hoard.

This is just one example. There are many, many other books that were available for a short time and then the author changes his mind, the publisher strikes a better deal or the server gets down, or, Imagine the horror, my internet connection goes down (it went down a few weeks ago for 12 hours!) and I am left without a book to read ;-)

I'm a hoarder/stockpiler of all books whether they be paper books or ebooks. I have close to 400 paper books and over 100 ebooks. I don't see those number decreasing anytime soon. I am so happy to know there are others like me out there! I LOVE buying books. In fact the rest of my BoB gift certificate is burning a hole in my pocket!

Good, I'm not the only stockpiler then... I tend to buy/download them faster than I can read... Thankfully, I also have plenty of short stories, which will read away fast
