Mr. Saddam undoubtedly did possess chemical weapons - past tense. However, all the evidence suggests that they were destroyed following the first gulf war, as he was required to do by the UN and, as it appears, that he actually did do, given that absolutely nothing has been discovered in goodness knows how many years of searching.

Do you honestly believe that a "suspicion" that a country might be harbouring chemical weapons is sufficient justification to invade it and overthrow its government? Your country has a massive stockpile of chemical weapons - does that give other nations a legitimate excuse to attack it?

Certainly not, butting in to express my own personal opinion. Saddam needed to be deposed to save the lives of Iraqis. But doing so militarily with no hard evidence of WMDs and unilaterally was unforgiveable, in my opinion. It was done against the expressed opposition of most other countries and with such an arrogant cowboy attitude ("you're either with us or against us") that it made me (still makes me) sick. On the other hand, it did not help that many other countries made their usual lame attempt to stop violence and oppression. They each stood and said to Saddam in a clear yet stern voice "Stop! Or else I'll have to say 'Stop!' again!" Very helpful indeed.

Oh, god, is this another post I'm going to wish I hadn't posted?

Hey, I thought the tag on this thread clearly stated in great big letters Unutterably Silly. You (we) have violated the rules! Because of that, I insist that Harry, Nate, Jon, and Slayda (okay, me too) exercise some silliness in here right now as penance. And dispense with all further nonsilliness in this thread. This is The Lounge and seriousness is welcome but only across the hall and two doors down - not here. This couch is barely big enough for my ego let alone all the childishness that goes on here. Hershey has replaced coco butter in their chocolate with vegetable oil.

Squirrels are definitely evil incarnate. And they are masters of disguise and misdirection. Just because what you are looking at doesn't look like a squirrel doesn't mean it isn't a squirrel.

For instance I saw a squirrel jump into the laurel bush at the foot of the garden the other day. Much rustling ensued and a pheasant came out which promptly started pecking at some freshly planted shrubs. Better half was furious, and naturally enough blamed the pheasant which by then retreated back into the laurel bush. Rustling ensued and squirrel appeared back on top of laurel. "Awww. Look at the cute squirrel." said other half.

They're all evil I tell you.

OK, now it's both Disney AND Hershey who are the incarnation of evil.

Danged lemurs, messing things up, don't make me have to get up from her and put my shoes on just to give you kids a whupping, flying squirrels only wish they could jump like a lemur, clean that up right now, I don't care if you're thirst just drink from the hose...

Now you've done it. All the political talk has unleashed my Inner Beyotch. And there isn't any normal chocolate to placate her. Where's GeoffC?
