Yep, but most of the "I get a headache reading on LED" I heard was prior to frontlights, peoples lines are now set in stone.
![]() I'd assumed the e-ink only people keep the front light turned down to a comfortable level in the dark (I know I do ![]() You're right though, if someone turns a frontlight as bright as a backlight then they should have the same problem. Right experiment time, someone who can't read on LED get a light meter and adjust the backlight on a e-ink device to match lumens, read and see if you get a headache ![]() Last edited by MikeB1972; 08-02-2017 at 04:44 AM. I don't remember which color setting the Overdrive app defaulted to when I first installed it. Probably white. It has 3 options:. Black on white, white on black, and sepia. The sepia background color and text color are lighter than the colors in AnemicOak:s screenshots from whatever app he/she uses. . In the Overdrive app, the only way I have found to make the text look darker against the background is to set the font style to Bold, but I don't like reading bold text. The app really needs a contrast setting. |

Actually, I must correct myself. UV LEDs do exist, but white light LEDs, such as are used for LCD backlights (and eInk frontlights) emit virtually no energy in the UV part of the spectrum.

Is this the same one that complains that Amazon needs to fix the lighting or a different one?

Nobody here ever heard of Computer Vision Syndrome?
One thing i know for real is that many people, myself included get dry eyes waaay more easily when reading on a computer screen, and that is because on average we blink 12 times per minute, but when we are on the computer, we only blink five times per minute? That can add up to dry eyes. And it is unconscious, you don't realize you are blinking less. |

That added to the glare, brightness, position, etc really makes reading on a computer screen much less pleasant.
