We were on an extended road trip with limited access internet data. Missed 9.3.5 for the iPhones. Any way to get it?

I'm afraid you've probably missed the boat. Your phone and the Apple servers when they check it, will know if you have never had that particular version, and if you havent, you'll be told you arent eligible. So I'm pretty sure you'll have to either stay put on what you have, or upgrade to iOS10.

The inability to set the background in native iOS apps to a color scheme that works well for night time or dark places is one of my major gripes too. I do a lot of astrophotography and I like to take notes with the Notes app. But opening an app like Notes in the dark is quite a shock to my eyes and will mess up my night vision for quite a few minutes thereafter. Even indoors while watching TV at night with the lighting dim causes a huge glare to the eyes. The same with safari and many other iOS native apps. It would be really great to be able to change the color schemes, and it would not be that difficult for Apple to implement, but they simply don't won't to. Apple can be to artsy-fartsy. They treat their UI as though it was a piece of artwork that cannot be changed. I wish they would get over themselves and go more with usability than looks.

There were rumors that iOS 10 would include a system-wide Dark (Night) Mode based on the beta versions. Disappointing that they didn't actually implement it! I did find this workaround suggestion.

![]() Not really worth upgrading to iOS 10 just for that though, especially since it is not clear exactly what gets the red tint. They clearly showed a lot of white on the screen capture, so I'm guessing it won't really be a true night mode where most, if not all, white gets replaced with a shade of red. |

How to get rid of iOS update notifications
This morning I got the attached notification. Not that annoying, just a number 1 on top of my Settings icon. But here is how to delete the iOS 10 downloaded update file and get rid of the notifications.
If you want to eventually install iOS 10 just go to Settings --> General --> Software Update and DL and install it. ........ Last edited by jswinden; 09-27-2016 at 11:23 AM. |

Yes, I see no reason to pseudo-delete these apps, and have to 'download' them from App Store if I want to use them in the future. It is a weird implementation, IMO, and most users will think they are freeing up space, when they aren't.

I just move them into an "Unused" folder so they're out of the way.

I also put the unused and seldom used Apple apps into a folder. One issue with that method is that some of those apps might be able to phone home, so to speak. So I make sure to turn off cellular data for them. They might still be using WiFi though. Not sure about that. Another issue is notifications. I also turn off notifications for all of them.
The problem is that they are likely still able to phone home and retrieve, and thus store, data. So they are leaving a data footprint on the phone. The fact that they still can run in the background means they have a power footprint too. So they do impact battery life to some degree. I'm not sure if deleting them actually addresses these issues are simply hides their app icons. |

I have reset my iPad and restored it as a new device. iOs 10 is now less sluggish on my iPad 4, and I can live with it. I'm hoping it doesn't get more sluggish as I use it more.
On the plus side, iOS makes it so easy to perform a reset. Took less than an hour to back up my files and put them back on. Most of the time was used reinstalling apps from the cloud and manually getting the settings back to what I had before. |

Spotlight is messed up on my iPad (Command+space bar with connected keyboard). In portrait it tends to come up shifted to the left and truncated. And now it is in some state where it doesn't return search results. I left Apple some feedback about the charging issues I have, and this will be subject for some more feedback. Minor issues, for sure, but surprising and disappointing, especially since the new features are not at all interesting to me.

No, unfortunately I started getting nagged again on my iPhone 6+ about a week afterwards. It seems to still be working on my iPad Mini 2 though. Perhaps Apple prioritizes their auto-nagging based on what device you own. Maybe they nag less on older devices. I turned the WiFi off and don't have a SIM card in the iPhone 5 I kept as a backup device, so it cannot phone home. I wish they had a "Buzz Off" option box to check.
