Product Description

The sparkling debut children’s novel from David Walliams, number one bestseller and fastest growing children’s author in the country.

Illustrated by Quentin Blake and brilliantly written by David Walliams, The Boy in the Dress is full of the sharp humour and vivid characters you would expect from the co-creator and co-star of Little Britain.

It is also a timeless and hilarious fable about what happens when an ordinary boy does something extraordinary – and the way that people, even the petty and cruel, can surprise you in the end. Quentin's illustrious black and white drawings are interspersed throughout, forming a perfect accompaniment to this funny and touching story.

France in the Middle Ages. A country torn by internecine strife, and menaced by the might of England's King Henry V. At the country's head is a frightened youth, the Dauphin Charles.

Isabeau and the mad King disinherit Charles, their last surviving son, and acknowledge King Henry V of England as the heir to the kingdom after his marriage to their youngest daughter Catherine.

Charles VII still has a few supporters though not very many, the main one being Yolande of Aragon whose daughter Marie and Charles are married while still quite young.

Yolande takes the reins and rules in the immature Charles's stead and single-handedly keeps Charles hopes alive.

Charles's fortunes continue to hopelessly flounder but Yolande expertly manages to keep alive his hopes that one day he may rule France…

Without the women in his life it is doubtful that Charles would have been able to finally defeat the English and regain all his lands lost to Henry V.

The magnificent Yolande, more a mother to him than the depraved Queen Isabeau; Marie, his plain but intelligent wife; but above all, Jehanne, the unblemished girl who will ride at the head of his army whilst swearing allegiance to the mysterious Knights Templar. The girl who will become known to legend as Joan of Arc…

Product Description

You get THREE full-length thrillers in this edition. Giving you hours of great reading. This is the complete TITAN TRILOGY available all together for the first time

A woman found dead in a remote farmhouse begins a gripping series of fast-paced detective thrillers unravelling a dark conspiracy

For the first time ever, the three best-selling books forming The Titan Trilogy are available in one edition.

Follow Detective Brendan Healy’s heart-stopping journey to uncover the truth. It all starts when he’s called in to investigate why a young woman called Rebecca Heilshorn was stabbed to death in her own home. All hell breaks loose when her brother bursts onto the crime scene. Rebecca turns out to have many secrets, and connections to a sordid network mixing politicians, wealth, and sex. Can Brendan solve the murder and how does it relate to his own tragic past?

In book two, we meet Special Prosecutor Jennifer Aiken who is investigating the exploitation of women and human trafficking. The trail will put both her and Brendan’s life in mortal danger, as well as introducing Healy to the fascinating young woman Sloane Dewan, who may hold the key to it all.

Finally in the concluding part of this compelling trilogy, Brendan and Jennifer work together to expose the corruption at the heart of the American government and the people attempting to control the economy, military, and police for their own ends. Can Brendan finally get justice for his wife and daughter and all the other victims of the dark forces subverting freedom?

If you like Stieg Larsson, Jo Nesbo, or Dennis Lehane novels you will be gripped by this heart-stopping crime thriller trilogy

The three books take place in the United States, including many closely observed locales in New York State, somewhere the author knows very well from living there.

Detective Brendan Healy is a recovering addict, whose problems began with a terrible family tragedy. Trained in neuroscience, and supported by his friend Seamus Argon, he tries to kick-start his life by joining the Hawthorne police department.

Jennifer Aiken is a special prosecutor for the Department of Justice, Jennifer gets involved when her Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit takes an interest in the Rebecca Heilshorn murder. Her ordered career and life are torn apart by what she discovers.

The Blade Itself (The First Law Trilogy, Book 1) by Joe Abercrombie from Orbit/Hachette ($1.99) is the Kindle Science Fiction & Fantasy Deal of the Day (June 17) *Wait for price to reflect discount before 1-clicking

Quote:
Product Description

Book 1 of 3 in the The First Law Series

The first novel in the First Law Trilogy and debut novel from New York Times bestseller, Joe Abercrombie.

Logen Ninefingers, infamous barbarian, has finally run out of luck. Caught in one feud too many, he's on the verge of becoming a dead barbarian -- leaving nothing behind him but bad songs, dead friends, and a lot of happy enemies.

Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. But war is brewing, and on the battlefields of the frozen North they fight by altogether bloodier rules.

Inquisitor Glokta, cripple turned torturer, would like nothing better than to see Jezal come home in a box. But then Glokta hates everyone: cutting treason out of the Union one confession at a time leaves little room for friendship. His latest trail of corpses may lead him right to the rotten heart of government, if he can stay alive long enough to follow it.

Enter the wizard, Bayaz. A bald old man with a terrible temper and a pathetic assistant, he could be the First of the Magi, he could be a spectacular fraud, but whatever he is, he's about to make the lives of Logen, Jezal, and Glokta a whole lot more difficult.

Murderous conspiracies rise to the surface, old scores are ready to be settled, and the line between hero and villain is sharp enough to draw blood.

Unpredictable, compelling, wickedly funny, and packed with unforgettable characters, The Blade Itself is noir fantasy with a real cutting edge.

Product Description

A house party turns a millionaire’s hacienda hideaway into a crime scene in this classic detective novel from an Edgar Award–winning Grand Master.

The Godfrey family is vacationing among the picturesque rocky cliffs of the North Atlantic seaboard, expecting peace, quiet, and, perhaps, a bit of golf or tennis. But one dusky evening in an isolated spot on the grounds of Spanish Cape, Rosa and her uncle David get into an argument about her secretive romance with one of their guests, the roguish John Marco, a handsome cad with a yellow roadster and no visible source of income. That’s when a towering one-eyed man with a .38 revolver emerges from the twilight.

When renowned sleuth Ellery Queen arrives the next day from New York City, looking forward to a summer getaway on the coast, he realizes his trip will be no walk on the beach. Rescuing Rosa, he discovers her captor mistook David for John and struck the former down instead. But Ellery has more work to do when Rosa’s shady sweetheart is found stone dead and stark naked . . . aside from a black fedora and a theatrical-looking opera cloak. There are plenty of guests and members of the household who might have wanted John dead, but who did it—and what in the world happened to the victim’s clothes?

In this iconic series inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and praised by none other than Agatha Christie, carefully planted clues, logical deduction, and an atmospheric 1930s setting combine for an irresistibly enjoyable read for anyone who loves a murderous puzzle.

Book 3 of 3 in the Breakthrough, Series

In 1984 a doomsday vault was constructed on a remote island in the Arctic Ocean.
Its purpose was to preserve Earth’s genetic history in the event of a global catastrophe.
Now, decades later, a second vault has been uncovered.
This one resting where no one ever expected.
And the problem is…it’s not ours.

Yet even more curious than the vault itself, is what lies inside.
Seeds. Millions of seeds. Each with a genetic embryo untouched and perfectly preserved.
Waiting.

No one knows who built it. Or when.
What we have managed to figure out is that whoever it was traveled an immense distance. For the sole purpose of hiding their genetic blueprints on Earth.
But why?

Now a small group of marine biologists and navy investigators have been assigned to find out. Before anyone else does.
But Alison Shaw and John Clay are not prepared for what they are about to uncover.
Beginning with the truth behind our own evolution.

Product Description

The 10 Habits of Highly Successful Women is a collection of essays revealing the secret career habits and hard-won wisdom of a diverse group of accomplished women, selected by Rachel Sklar and Glynnis MacNicol, co-founders of TheLi.st, the well-known network dedicated to elevating professional women.

Perhaps no group has experienced more upheaval in the last few decades than working women. In this series, each woman explores the one key habit or lesson that has made the difference in forging her career and attaining professional success.

Whether it’s CNN personality Sally Kohn’s exploration of emotional correctness or What Not To Wear's Stacy London on the wear and tear of our aspirational “Culture of Extraordinary”; why millennial Nisha Chittal won't tell you her age and what Cindy Gallop learned about sex while dating men half hers; how lessons from waitressing led Jenna Wortham to The New York Times or how Paula Froelich perfected the art of the “controlled burn” to start over after the end of a dream career—these essays uncover the challenges and delights of chasing, and finding, success in work and life as a professional woman.

Book Description
In Revolutionary France, a grisly murder threatens to derail an ambitious plan to save the condemned king

Célie Laurent stands in the convention hall of the French Republic, watching the deputies vote one by one. Most of them have just one word to say: “Death.” As the night wears on, the outcome of the vote moves beyond doubt, and Louis XVI is condemned to the guillotine. Célie will have just four days to save the king’s life.

As the Revolution reaches a fever pitch, Célie falls in with a group of royalists who are willing to do whatever it takes to keep France from killing its king. Their plan is daring, but just might work—until the group’s leader is murdered in cold blood. Somewhere among the royalists lies a traitor, and Célie and her friends must find him soon, lest they lose their heads before Louis loses his.

The Kremlin Letter by Noel Behn from Open Road Media Mystery & Thriller is $1.99 (US Kindle)

FYI: Find other Open Road Media ebooks on sale today at $2.99 (and less) on Amazon!

Quote:
Book Description

Six American spies with unusual talents embark on a dangerous mission behind enemy lies in this classic Cold War espionage thriller.

Lt. Cmdr. Charles Rone, a young naval intelligence officer with a sterling record, finds himself abruptly discharged from the service. Without his consent, Rone has been recruited to join a top-secret network of agents who operate independently of the US government. Led by a cynical spymaster known only as the Highwayman, the group will break any law and destroy as many innocent lives as necessary to stop the spread of communism.

In Moscow, the Americans must make contact with a high-level mole in the Kremlin and recover a letter that could spark a nuclear war if it falls into the wrong hands. But treachery is an integral part of this shadow conflict between superpowers, and no sooner has the team arrived in the Soviet capital than the double-crossing begins. One devastating betrayal follows the next as Rone desperately tries to stay alive and out of the clutches of the KGB long enough to find out who compromised the mission.

Inspired by author Noel Behn’s service in the US Army’s Counterintelligence Corps, The Kremlin Letter is a realistic and hard-edged tale of international intrigue that ranks with the best of John Le Carré and Len Deighton. A New York Times bestseller, it was the basis for a John Huston film starring Orson Welles and Max von Sydow.

Audible Daily Deal - Under the Udala Trees by Chinelo Okparanta , Robin Miles (Narrator) for $3.95

* FYI, the Kindle edition of Under the Udala Trees is just $2.99 (Amazon US)

Quote:
Publisher's Summary

Inspired by Nigeria's folktales and war, Under the Udala Trees is a deeply searching, powerful debut about the dangers of living and loving openly. Ijeoma comes of age as her nation does; born before independence, she is 11 when civil war breaks out in the young republic of Nigeria. Sent away to safety, she meets another displaced child, and the star-crossed pair fall in love. They are from different ethnic communities. They are also both girls. When their love is discovered, Ijeoma learns that she will have to hide this part of herself. But there is a cost to living inside a lie.

As Edwidge Danticat has made personal the legacy of Haiti's political coming of age, Okparanta's Under the Udala Trees uses one woman's lifetime to examine the ways in which Nigerians continue to struggle toward selfhood. Even as their nation contends with and recovers from the effects of war and division, Nigerian lives are wrecked and lost from taboo and prejudice. But this story offers a glimmer of hope - a future where a woman might just be able to shape her life around truth and love.

Yes, unless I'm missing something. Since affiliate links are no longer allowed, there's no point to affiliate threads. Existing threads can stay up, however.

If you look at the date the first post was updated , it was changed recently. The bump was to make sure it appeared as new.

I really appreciate this thread since Amazon no longer shows the genre of the daily deal books, it just shows the cover. I got tired of going into book details and finding out it was a genre I would never read. I liked being able to check here for the deals and see the genre.
