I had the same problem recently but later, I figured out that it's not firmware issue. The smart cover has too strong magnet, when I fold the case over backwards the magnetic strip in it is triggering the "sleep" function.

It looks like there's a new update for the pw3, fw 5.7.3.1 "The software update includes general performance improvements."
