My mother's computer fell victim to Windows Service Pack 3. It looks like I will need to do a complete reinstallation. Unfortunately, I can't find my WinXP Home disk. I need to borrow one. Con someone bring it on Saturday?

P.S. And no, Linux is not an option. I can't even get her to switch over to Firefox.

Everyone: I'm going to be bringing a camera, to see if any of you might be interested in having your photo taken, reading your reader of choice, for possible use on next year's Read an E-book Week site. I'm planning to do a major redesign of their site this year, and if you're game, you could be part of it! No pressure, but just if you want to.

We had 15 people for the Washington Area Meet-up.

They were in no particular order:

Enola
Kosst Amojan
GuinnessToday
CassidyM and wife
Nate the Great
ktb1381
Steve Jordan and wife
Bob Russell and wife with an extra friend
MMascaro and wife
RWood

I got there about quarter to 5 and there were already 2 members waiting for the meet-up to start. I hung the MobileRead sign on the door and they arranged the tables for us -- long buffet style. Nate brought his collection of reading devices which was admired by all. Bob even brought a wooden case for the Sony PRS-500 made by Yvan.

CassidyM was sporting a MobileRead hat and Steve Jordan had a MobileRead polo shirt so we figured that they were part of the meet-up too. Bob and his wife came from Pittsburgh and several others traveled over an hour to get there. Regretfully, my wife was not able to attend.

Food and drinks were served (and consumed and enjoyed.)

I thank all of you for coming and making it a wonderful evening to remember.

Hey, had a wonderful time chatting with folks. Everyone was really friendly. Wish I didn't have to bow out early.

Nate, thanks for bringing all the neat toys, espec the Kindle, which I finally got a chance to check out! I think I will pick one up soon.

"Someone's phone" was also mine, an LG "Dare" touch-screen phone. However... I just threw that in for the possibility of reading on it... in fact, other than using the web browser, I don't know (yet) of an actual e-book application that has been created for the Dare.
