Thank you for this trick, it can be a stop gap measure for the moment. But after each sync this annoying bug returns.

While I had a pleasant reading experience across several firmware releases for the Aura H2O and Aura HD over the past year, this 3.17.3 firmware fix release now finally starts to really annoy me with its Wifi error popping up all the time. Luckily, rebooting the H2O and reopening the book I'm reading for me is still quite quick, maybe twenty seconds at most or so.

There's a reason why many development teams stick to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" after all...

Shame for Kobo - "pinch and zoom"

Hi folks, the famous bug "pinch and zoom" when this very function is disabled, is still here? Or its already gone, which is hard to believe?
I'm still with 12.1 FW since its works well.

Have you tried 3.17.0? I went from 3.15.0 > 3.17.0 and I found that the ePub page turns are noticeably faster than before.

They were quicker with 3.16.0 and 3.17.0, but still not as fast as they should be. If you repeatedly turn the pages, you'll see the speed it's capable of.

For now I went back to 3.17.0, I didn't have any problems with it and I had the patch already set to my liking.

So, sorry if I am ignorant, 3.17.0 is better with the sickel disabled then this one? As it is cleaning the screen after sleep and this release doesn't?

Yes, the next page can be pre-rendered. And should be.

Also, the last page's rendering can be retained (in case of going backward).

Subject to available memory, of course.

Wild conjecture: I'm thinking this might be related to the IR grid switching back/to low power mode, rather than the reader pre-rendering pages or not (since AFAIR, if you flick through multiple pages in a short amount of time, the reader's doing mostly okay, file breaks notwithstanding).
Checking the *exact* timing of the touch events might shed some light on this (as would checking that out on an Aura).

Also worth noting is that though the screen flashes very quickly, the text still takes a tick to solidify if you try the flick through multiple pages thing.

Read pages 2 & 3 of this thread.
And you are using FW 3.12.1.

i did the update, but now calibre is giving me an error. it says that the firmware isn't supported, yet it still sent my books over. will this cause a problem when Calibre is updated? i don't want to have to reset my kobo h2o again because of another database error.

This is what I'm wondering as well. Did you find out? I haven't been around much and I wanted to be clear on which is the best current update.

Can anyone please advise? Is it 3.17.0 or 3.17.3? 3.17.0 needs the patch to avoid the sickel issue, is that correct? Am I better off just staying on 3.15.0?
