Alice fell down the rabbit hole in 1865. Tron was scanned into the grid in 1982. So becoming part of the story is not a new idea, but it's still delightful when done well.

A young adult series called "80AD" propels two kids into their computer game. Each volume presents their adventures on a separate game level, with each level focused on a different world culture and its history and mythology in that year. I've not read these yet, but at first glance they seem of better quality than most Smashwords freebies.

Well! I have no idea if I will like this series -- I haven't start any of them. But since you said YOU liked them, I started collecting them when the first one went free. This is getting to be a habit with them now, with subsequent ones going free!

There's a minimum $5 tier which will net you 10 titles (9 of them collections/GNs) including superhero stuff by Alex Ross and Jimmy Palmiotti, a steampunk adventure by Bill Willingham of Fables fame, adaptations of popular paranormal fantasy series The Hollows and Mercy Thompson, a classic adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, some Red Sonja and Vampirella, etc.

The $15 top-tier nets you an additional 10 titles (5 collections/GNs), including an artist retrospective book about Ramona Fradon, an important and influential contributor to newspaper strip comics as well as superheroes (she's illustrated Brenda Starr and co-created DC Comics' Metamorpho & Aqualad, according to Wikipedia), and some more Red Sonja and other assorted titles, including issue #1 of the Game of Thrones adaptation.

There's some overlap with Humble Bundle's own previous Dynamite Comics bundles, but enough new stuff (especially for Red Sonja fans, it would seem) that this seems decent value even if you've already gotten those (and a good way to retro-"catch-up" if you missed them earlier).

Also, I'll note that the Agate Publishing freebies which showed up at B&N & Amazon earlier this week (limited to US & UK only) are now available as DRM-free PDF downloads available worldwide directly at the publisher's website, and the linkage is included in the OPs which are listed under the drm-free ebook tag (as well as several older Agate freebies which have since expired in the regular stores but can still be gotten free from their website).

I love the way ebooks have opened publishing to such a wide variety of authors and stories which might never have come to light in a dead-tree world.

Today's find is a trio of stories by David Alastair Hayden. From the descriptions, these seem to be fresh takes on classic teen fantasy elements. All three of these are FREE!

The Shadowed Manse:
