But, if we are not going to get an easily replaceable battery, then having a heftier battery would give the device that much longer before the battery life is too short.

If you use these buttons as your primary means of page-turning (as I do), then they are by far the most heavily-used mechanical part in the eReader, so always likely to be the first part to fail. |

There is no market for ereaders with exciting colors. Although there is a niche market for skins. There is little to no market for SD card expansion, becaus most people don't give a darn. There is a good reason for that. ![]() Your dislike of Jeff Bezos is not a prediction about the ereaders? ![]() Please elaborate... |

I don't need a better battery in my eReader. I can read three or four novels before I have to charge my device. It's a non problem. I think user-replaceable batteries is a different issue. Putting in a larger non-replaceable battery is just a dodge. Last edited by hardcastle; 01-23-2015 at 02:17 PM. |

I have to agree, a larger battery is probably not a priority for most people as most are surrounded with chargers from home to car to office. Really, how often must one charge an e-ink reader now?
As to the idea of user replaceable batteries, I'm all for it as I don't see a more immediate point of failure in current models devoid of physical mechanical page turn buttons. I imagine that as long as the lighting stays active, and the display in one piece, my Glo should last to the point where I'll probably need to swap the battery out -unless some radically better e-ink or other display tech lures me away. So far, so good. I'd be interested in a cell phone with a battery capacity like my Note II and a 1920 X 1080 LCD display with a secondary e-ink display, but I'm not really sure I'd be completely comfortable reading on a 16:9 ratio display under 6" diagonal as it'd seem sort of narrow to me. I have a reader app on my Note II, but it's not something I use a lot. However, that may relate more to having access to my Glo when I usually have time to read for pleasure. |

Just because Amazon wants to take away the SD card slot is not a good reason not to have one. In fact, then best Readers DO have an SD card slot.

Also, I note that I said there is no market for them. You responded by saying Amazon is wrong for acting against the market (for them). We will get nowhere if your arguments assume I am wrong and debate a separate point. Standard Operating Procedures in a debate: First you challenge my assertion. THEN you argue about the consequences of my being (in your opinion) wrong. |
