To kill the rumour in its womb and stave off the angry pitchfork wielding mob: what happened to @pga is not a remote device wipe, but a simple fail-safe of the FW in case of trouble (here, filesystem corruption), a corruption which happened entirely because I missed something new in FW 5.6.1, that broke the installer in a subtle but pernicious way

NiLuJe - I'm not convinced I still have jb. I created the locking folder, which survives a reboot, but as soon as I try to install backdoorlock after placing the bin file on my K, the file is gone and not available to install.

ETA - this may be the reason "something new in FW 5.6.1, that broke the installer in a subtle but pernicious way". Anything I can do to remedy this?

That is the usual breakage of unofficial bins.
JB is useless on this firmware, it seems. The MKK however provides room for running KUAL. Does that work?

I didn't even try since my device was completely stripped by whatever happened. I'll try now, though not hoping for much.

I can run my other active content. I tested that last night. Just checked again and ac still works fine.

As for KUAL, have you rebooted the device since the whole thing went kablooey?

Yes, I rebooted a couple of times and once after replacing KUAL from your snapshots.

I just tried the KUAL file I used last night - not one of your snapshots - and it didn't work either. Same message.

I got KUAL back up. I had tried twice with two different files and tried rebooting, etc. This time the snapshot file worked. I don't know if it was me or something else.

Thanks... looks like a feature I won't be using as it looks like too much clutter for too little value for native speakers who have a decent vocabulary. I guess I don't mind that the feature hasn't (won't) yet come to my PW1.
