Not sure if that means it a Kepub or not.
I really liked the time left in chapter info available on my Paperwhite - it was the one and only Kindle feature I did like though. For me it is useful to decide whether I have enough time to finish the chapter I am reading before going to sleep, going out or whatever.

How do you update firmware of the H20 to 3.11? (I'm a newbie for Ereaders)
I synchronized it yesterday to the Kobo desktop (3.11) and I'm still in 3.7.
Should I use the update device option of Calibre?

Kobo Epub means kepub, but the percentage read indicator works with plain epubs too. The time-remaining and per-chapter progress options are ony for kepubs though.

The home screen on my Glo now only has only two rows of finished book tiles, and there is a big blank space where the third row was. I think the tiles might be just a tiny bit bigger, and there is now not quite enough room for a third row. I used to be able to get 7 book tiles on the homescreen, but now can fit a maximum of 5.

I won't believe you unless you post selfies with the reading status on your reader and the Candy Crush level on your phone/phablet/tablet.

Grab the good one from this tread : https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=185660
Go to your kobo reader, look for the .kobo directory (there is a dot before) and unzip the firmware file there ( including the sub directory in the firmware zip) then disconnect your device, it will boot, load the new firmware, boot sometimes a second time and then you are on it, the device deleted the just placed upgrade files in the .kobo directory itself.

cybmole, why the heck should you care? Nobody's forcing you to facebook, or even look at that page. Personally I'd really like to see a summary of my reading stats after I finish a book.
Jocques, you're not alone. I would love to see this. In fact, I would like to see a lot more detailed reading stats. I want to see the day I finished and the day I started. I want to see how long my average reading session was. I want to see what my average words per minute was.

If my reader is gonna make this sound ( don't even know the kobo can make sound) i could do two things, hardwired disconnected the speaker, of buy another brand.
i like some userstats but my main goal is reading, not to be annoyed with all information on screen, it is relaxing for me, not a competition.
I find it okay when they add things like this,as long as there is a setting to put it off, for me it is not important to have those kind of statistics where u can easy fool yourself, some books are not so easy to read but they are good, but then you have to skip these or your average words per minute is dropping.
I don't want to fight with u or anyone else, but I read for pleasure, not for competition or to show my average words per minute.
That would not be fair either, I have a special form of dislectic, I see words as pictures, therefore I read very fast, but I don't actually read the words, I scan complete parts of a page, I am more busy with turning pages then reading words.. I don't even see the vowels.

Syncing your eReader will update it to the latest firmware, but Kobo rolls out the firmware over a couple of weeks (when you get it depends on your affiliate setting in the config file, which is set based on where you bought the device from). So right now for some people the latest version is 3.7/3.8, for others it's 3.11. You can manually load it as described above if you're in a hurry though.

Because it's a private device rather than a public area. Why should you put up with advertising for something you're not interested in?

Manufacturers pushing this sort of thing onto private devices has become a bit of a plague in the last few years. I've virtually stopped buying new computer games because every one seems to come with a requirement to install some unrelated storefront or other before you can play it.

Obviously there's got to be a bit of give and take. Improvements to features to enticements to advertisements isn't a clear cut continuum but something like facebook that's a single commercial entity should certainly be optional.

But it is optional to use any and all Facebook features. My Kobo certainly isn't logged into my Facebook account.

I am not such an idiot that I need to be told that, and not part of the selfie brigade that needs to tell the whole world via facebook about this momentous event,.

when Amazon added this "feature" it was the final straw for me+ kindle, & now Kobo are going the same way

ditto for any "beyond the book". I want reading to be a private, self contained, ad free experience, and I am still capable of deciding what to read next without some software butting in to offer suggestions.
I agree with this. I do not want an additional page showing when I finish a book. I just want to open the next book.

Yes. I use advboot and koreader. You do need a copy of koreader 849 or newer. The rcS file for 3.8.0 is the same as the one for 3.11.0 so you only need to restore that file -- see the advboot thread for that file if you need it.

For those who haven't noticed yet, GeoffR has started a 3.11 patch thread in the Developer's Forum. Instructions for patching firmware 3.11.0
