You can turn off display of covers in Library listing. I can't do this on home page yet but wish I could. Current home page is much better than carousel home page they had before.

I like the covers showing though. But when they're shrunken down in size that much, it's hard to even tell what's on a cover then. But I'd still prefer having a cover displayed.

I've had nothing but good experiences with my Kobo Touch and now my Kobo Aura. I think they're fantastic products and will happily buy another Kobo e-reader when it's time to trade-up my Aura.

I think it's quite good considering the Glo is two years older tech wise. Here's a picture, same font, 50% brightness as its early morning here. The Glo is a white screen whereas my H20 is a cream screen. I like them both. For the price I paid I'm very happy.

I've had an Aura HD since release. I upgraded to it from a Kindle 4 NT. I recently bought a used K4NT from eBay because I was starting to think my Aura was too big.
Honestly, the Aura HD is probably going to end up in the for sale forum sometime soon. Here's why: - Even thought the clarity of the display on the Aura HD is stunning, I find the contrast on the Kindle to be superior. - The distance between the bezel and the screen is awful. It creates a shadow (I don't use the front light because it hurts my eyes) which makes it really difficult for me to find suitable lighting. It hits my finger whenever I do a page swipe. Gunk also has a tendency to build up around the edges of the display. - The touch screen is not as consistent as I'd like it to be. In fact, the entire software experience feels slower and not as refined as it should. I feel like every interaction with the device involves waiting for it to think about what to do. - Page turns are much slower than the Kindle - No page turn buttons - The Kindle is much lighter and thinner, which makes it easier to hold for long periods of time. I found myself laying the Aura down in my lap a lot more than the Kindle. - Kobo is obsessed with utilizing as little space as possible for text. I have to do a special conversion of every one of my books AND patch the firmware with each new release to get much more text on the screen than what the Kindle can do. Basically, when I used the Kobo, I notice the device a lot more. I feel like "I'm reading a book on the Kobo Aura HD", while with the Kindle I feel like "I'm reading a book." Part of this is the Aura HD's cheap, plastic casing, but a lot of it is Kobo's firmware. |

I'd been ogling ereaders for a while, but waited until the sony PRS-T1 to buy: it was the first that answered my then basic requirements (no backlight, no closed system amazon, button + touch screen, good dictionaries, not too heavy). I bought the T2 as soon as possible, for the better definition mainly.
I waited to buy the kobo glow, but I wanted to try the light. It took me a while to get used to a different system, and though I kept the sony T2 for unconvertible pdfs I find it very difficult to switch systems - and going back to such poor definition... Now I know it well, I much prefer the Kobo FW, not to speak of higher definition, better screen, etc. So I bought the aura HD, later the aura 6" as a spare, and as a lightweight for public transport. When my HD died (after 18 months), I had to wait a month before the H2o became available and was glad to have a spare, though I missed the HD. And now, I'm very pleased with the H2o, found handbags with a pocket that protects the device without needing a cover, which makes it not heavier than the 6" with cover, while much better overall. My learning curve is long, and I needed attentive use + reading of this forum, until I felt "expert" enough, which I think is partly why everybody gets attached to one maker and mostly switch when things go very wrong. |

My used $50 Glo came today and it really is in pristine condition, no flaws at all (once I wiped finger smudges off it of course
![]() And this screen with the front light on is also a little whiter than the other two are. I can turn the light output down a bit and still have it look the same as the others. |
