True, and that was fair enough. I was just musing. And learning stuff.

@e..w - my remarks weren't directed at you, or anyone else - just thought I'd summarise where we were at, and put things into perspective.

Got it. With that in mind, my post still stands. I have no beef in this, just curiosity. I was responding to the summarization and how it affected what I said.

The only problem with waiting a week is there might be a fix coming that you really want/need. Tomorrow's update is going to the the column widths getting reset and to me that's something I want fixed. I had my column widths set how it worked for me and 2.1 reset them. So I do want the next update.

But if I was having SISPP (stupid ISP problems), I'd download the 32-bit version and install that. Then I'd go back to the 64-bit version the next week. The only real difference is that the 64-bit version can handle more memory intensive activities but I've never had a memory issue with the 32-bit versions I run on one of my systems.

Kovid is now mirroring the releases at GitHub as well. So if this problem happens again, you can try downloading the installer using an encrypted connection, from the releases tab on the GitHub project homepage.

Direct link to Releases: https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibre/releases

If you have time to kill, anyone whose ISP was doing this, can test out the new download option. Just to confirm it fixes the problem.

Kovid!

I appreciate the fact that you go the extra mile Kovid.

If anyone deserves a big fat pile of Google stock it's you.

Thank you.

You're welcome

Mirroring the current release to GitHub is painless (automated) for me so it was an easy fix. That way I dont have to enable SSL on my personal servers.

Yayy!

Good news!

I just used my stock standard routine, go to http://calibre-ebook.com/download, download the 64-bit installer package to my hard drive, and double-click it. Result: v2.2 installed without a hitch.

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed this thread, and particular thanks to Kovid, not just for this, but for all he has done over the years with this incredible product.
