Whew, it was still free. I've heard really good things about this book. I generally don't like time travel, but for this price, even I can be talked into looking at it!

For urban fantasy fans: The entire Diane Tregarde series by Mercedes Lackey is on sale for $1.99 per book. She wrote these before UF was even a known subgenre. I really enjoyed them back in the day.

I think this is a kindle deal of the day so it might be today only. Not sure. She must have repub'd these herself because sadly I don't see them on Kobo or B&N.

I've been sitting on some gift card money, but decided to spend it to get the 4 novels in this series.

Two of the short works, "Nightside" and "Satanic, Versus..." can be found in Werehunter, available directly from Baen eBooks or from your favorite seller. And, since Werehunter includes all of her "SKitty" stories, it's a uch better deal than buying the individual short works.

Even better value is the new Omnibus that Baen brought out last December
Dragon's Teeth which contains all of Werehunter+Fiddler Fair and some other shorts. Also available directly DRM-free from Baen eBooks or from your favorite seller

Thanks again for that mention. I posted on the blog and it turned into a buddy read/discussion. I think I enjoyed the book. It was well worth a read, although I was disgruntled about some parts. Skillfully written though and clever. The humor carried it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the blog discussion and moved the book up the TBR pile.

I might have gotten a little carried away. I'm very opinionated and the more we talked about it, the more I analyzed and pontificated. But honestly it's skillfully written--and also quite complex. I think it accidentally made for a great discussion. Many of my blog readers are cozy readers, so I actually picked it thinking they'd be the main audience. That kind of got turned on its head, but it sure was a fun discussion!

Repeat freebie: The Ghosts of Varner Creek by Michael Weems. First published in hardcover by Five Star in 2007. "A well-crafted balance of history and supernatural mystery." -Kirkus Reviews. Goodreads

Quote:
In the summer of 1909, Solomon Mayfield awoke to find his mother and sister had disappeared. Left with his alcoholic and abusive father, Sol lived his life believing the story he'd been told, the story all the people of Varner Creek believed about what happened that summer. But in a plot of twists and family secrets that will leave the reader reaching for their jaw upon the floor, Sol is taken back to his childhood by the spirits he knew in life when he passes away so many years later . . . it is only then he learns what secrets The Ghosts of Varner Creek have been keeping so many years.

It is most likely free elsewhere, but my internet connection is too slow today.

Quote:
Spyder Lee is a happy man who lives in San Francisco and owns a tattoo shop. One night an angry demon tries to bite his head off before he's saved by a stranger. The demon infected Spyder with something awful - the truth. He can suddenly see the world as it really is: full of angels and demons and monsters and monster-hunters. A world full of black magic and mysteries. These are the Dominions, parallel worlds full of wonder, beauty and horror. The Black Clerks, infinitely old and infinitely powerful beings whose job it is to keep the Dominions in balance, seem to have new interests and a whole new agenda. Dropped into the middle of a conflict between the Black Clerks and other forces he doesn't fully understand, Spyder finds himself looking for a magic book with the blind swordswoman who saved him. Their journey will take them from deserts to lush palaces, to underground caverns, to the heart of Hell itself.
The Whispersync for Voice Audible audiobook is $3.99 when you own the Kindle edition.
