This is an especially great find for me because I want to focus on Great War books. I am delighted to find a mystery that fits that description.

@BelleZora I don't know if you're aware of (or perhaps already have?) Robert Goddard's mystery and suspense series set around the death of an English Diplomat during the early days of the making of the Treaty of Versailles in Paris, 1919.

There is a free prologue to Book 1 called:
Intersection: Paris, 1919 (An exclusive prologue to The Ways of the World)

This very short introduction also includes chapter1 of Book 1, and is free on Kobo India (and probably on most country sites)

Neither Book 1 (The Ways of the World) or Book 2 (The Corners of the Globe) are on special, but are both discountable on the India site. (I got book 2 as a pre-order in the heady days of the first India 3 cents sale!!)

Now I must ask myself why I would set a Great War reading challenge for myself and then immediately seek to circumvent the drier aspects of the educational goals by finding every mystery ever written set in that time period.

PS - I stumbled across Sally Spencer's Blackstone and the Great War on my library's shelves and read it without having read anything else in the series. Was a great read and worked fine as a stand alone - part of it actually takes place in the trenches, as opposed to a lot of the series that take place immediately after the war. Also, Elizabeth Speller has a few titles out in that period which are good, IMO.
