Like Atunah said I have to be in the mood for a bodice ripper. The last one I read was Lady Vixen by Shirlee Busbee and it would be considered light hearted compared to Sweet Savage Love.
Yes, that was me. And some of the reviews say it's not really a romance. So it's probably not something I will attempt, after all. Unless there is a Reader's Digest edition

Most bodice rippers don't have much romance in them at least not in my book. They are epic love stories that have a ending of peace. I can't call it happy but the heroine in the end finds a measure of peace in her life.

Preorder on Kobo (goes on sale July 7) for $0.99:

Quote:
Time After Time

From Regency England to the American Civil War, from the Wild West to Viking battles for territory, Time After Time delivers the gallantry, the color, the passion of yesterday that captures every historical romance lover’s heart. Fall in love with these ten titles from some of Crimson’s brightest stars:

Elf Ahearn - A Rogue in Sheep’s Clothing

Emma Barron - The Glass Orchid

Elizabeth Meyette - Love’s Destiny

Andrea R. Cooper - Viking Fire

Ivory Lei - How to Wed an Earl

Rachel Donnelly - Lady Broke

Emma Barry - Brave in Heart

Marie Patrick - A Treasure Worth Keeping

Becky Lower - The Reluctant Debutante

Elizabeth Boyce - Once a Duchess

Isn’t it time you returned to the bold, unforgettable historicals you love?

What about Kathleen Woodiwiss, the first Lisa Kleypas books, Johanna Lindsey's earliest books.... I remember them really bringing out emotion in me, and I loved them....but did they have happy endings? I thought they did.

It depends on if you think the heroine should have stayed with the hero. I know on most Bodice rippers I read after all she had been through all manners of cruelty with the hero how could it be a HEA when every modern part of me is screaming you deserve better.

Never say never. One of my favorite deceased writers Roberta Latow, died back in 2003. Well lo and behold, her books are now ebooks thanks to Amazon! I think I read, had Sweet Savage Love, but it didn't survive the purge I did when I moved back in 2008.

The author of Stormfire killed herself as she was writing. I mean it's possible but I think the author made it clear she wished the books had never been written.

Yes! Thankfully my dog did not react as much this year as the last few years. Of course, where I live they set off fireworks again tonight. And there will probably be more tomorrow

More power to you, ScalyFreak! I hope you can get enough rest during the weekend.

I love that series as well. There will be a SEAL anthology coming out on July 22nd, titled Hot Alpha SEALS. J.M. Madden will contribute a novella called Unbreakable SEAL. It features Lacey, the nurse at the hospital (Walter Reed?) in Embattled Road.

Hey they were going off last night (the 5th) here, too. My little dog (rat terrier mix) is terrified. My DH took her in with him. Thankfully there weren't as many as the 4th. Oh and 5 a.m. on the 5th, or thereabouts, the stupid smoke alarm went off (it was dusty inside, I guess) and she is scared of that, too! Poor thing.
