![]() The PRS-600 was great in sunshine, but as soon as I came indoors with subdued lighting, I really struggled ,the contrast was/is just too low. It was my first e-reader though; at that point it was just "wow" all my books held in my hand at once - Goodbye dusty bookcase. After buying a little PRS-300 Sony for my wife and thinking - "hey - that thing's better than mine" I decided to get the Kindle Keyboard. I really liked it, except for the keyboard at the bottom, Hence the "Glo". In-fact the week before My Kobo Glo broke, I sent the KK to my daughter overseas - Bad timing or what? ![]() Still - now I have a lovely new PaperWhite to enjoy for a few weeks until Amazon try and tempt us all with the next version, before the paint's dried on my old (new) one ![]() |

I have no glare on my Nexus 7. It must be different lighting.

I read about equally on my PW2 and my iPad Retina Mini, and find both to be excellent devices. |

Yes, that's it precisely. I have tried all different lighting levels. (I don't like it when the brightness is really low). I'll play around with the Nexus some more, maybe I need a different background. I'm going on a child-free vacation in a few days, so usually have lots of reading time. I'll change up the settings and give it a concerted try.

I've stopped using eInk devices about 18 months ago for roundabout 6 months. Back then, my experience was similar to yours: My numerous tablets are good enough for reading, plus I can do so much more on them. But: Since eInk devices offer light, I've bought 3 of them: Kindle Paperwhite 2, Nook GlowLight and Kobo Aura HD. I still prefer the weight and battery duration of eInk devices over tablets. And when in bed (I'm reading about 3 hours every night in bed), I don't need the extra functionality of tablets. I'm not playing games, watching movies, listen to music and such at night. But I don't have any problems at all with reading on tablets. Tomorrow, on a brief business trip, I'll take with me: iPad mini Retina, Dell Venue 8 Pro, Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and Kindle Paperwhite 2. iPad mini Retina as my main gadget. Dell Venue 8 Pro as my mobile machine for business. Kindle Fire HD 8.9 because I've installed quite a few apps in the last few days and want to test them. Kindle Paperwhite 2 as my main reading device. I'm traveling a lot. From 1 day trips to 10 days. Usually I don't have a problem taking a few devices with me. Most of the times it's 2 tablets and 1 reader. Whether I take iPad mini Retina with me or add Kindle Paperwhite 2 doesn't make much of a difference. Even if I don't have a suitcase with me, but only a briefcase, those highly mobile devices don't take much space and easily can be transported. |
