Thanks for all the help and advice. Now I can keep downloading MR books!
BookCat--I think you'll be quite happy the the Kindle--I know I am--although I still have a soft spot for all my sonys (including my 505--which I gave up using a year or so ago when the battery wouldn't hold a charge for longer than a day). Regarding the charger, as long as it's a usb micro connector, it should work with your PW. I use the charger/cables that came with my old droid, my old nook classic, and my sony 350s/650s interchangeably.

I don't. And when I travel, I need that 3g to get books!

No smartphone here (have android phones, but no data). But I put enough ebooks on my devices that I don't need to download any more while I am out.

I have plenty on there too--but twice I've wanted the next in series. I don't buy "ahead" in series because they often don't work out. One is enough. Or two is enough. But when they aren't and I'm in an airport with no free wifi or out on my travels where there isn't any, it has come in handy. But I knew that I'd need 3g when I bought it. I travel way past the boonies on a regular basis and can generally get somewhere with 3g, but not necessarily wifi.

At least I presume all those Aussie outlets are indeed separate and not just portals for the same ebook sales system.

Do all those Aussie outlets compete for business with each other. On price or otherwise?
