I wonder if this only applies to online orders? Sorry mine went back earlier today. I can say looking at other pics that mine was more of an extreme case. I had large shadows in the bottom middle of the screen with a few white hot spots as well. The shadow extended into about three of four lines of text.

I opted for a refund rather than a replacement because I read both the Kindle and the Nook Glow in the dark side by side for awhile and came to the conclusion that the Kindle was not a significant improvement over the Nook.

If I didn't already have a Nook and were deciding between the two ( assuming the Kindle had a good screen) I would probably pick the Kindle. Having a Nook and having read the early rave reviews I thought the Kindle would be a significant improvement over the Nook. For me I found very little difference between reading a Nook in the dark or the Paperwhite and for me anyway, not enough for me to justify the expense.

I went to a BB yesterday where the web site said they were in stock, and the person there insisted they weren't for sale yet. I pointed out that other BB stores were selling them, and the web site said they were in stock, but he wouldn't budge. It was extremely frustrating.

Another store will happily sell you one though. I had to do the same thing. I gave up on the store that refused to sell me one and had another store hold one for me instead to pick up.

Mine has the black ones hidden in the back, so they can try to sell last year's silver model for the same price, as do other stores that I have heard of on MR.
I feel bad for customers who do not know better and only see the $10 off sign.

Picked up yesterday.

I went in to BB yesterday morning and picked one up after seeing stock online. They only had one or two and now everywhere shows no stock.

I love it. No problems in the dark at any level of the light.

Yes.. BB is in disarray Nation wide.. the whole chain has major problems with management, employee training, coordination, inventory notifications, staffing good sales associates.. etc.. they are projected to close 25-30% of 1,400 stores in 2013.. they have the problem ..
"the right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing" they are in Big Trouble..
