If it's being released first in paperback, then either format is all right with me. Otherwise, one book.

I don't mind trilogies as long as they are all available. I don't want to start book 1 and then have to wait months or years for book 2. I don't knowingly start an unfinished trilogy.

I prefer three separate, if all are available at once. I like the smaller chunks. Price matters to me though, so if an ebook is cheaper in an omnibus, and I'm sure I want to read the whole thing, I'll choose the cheaper one. If I'm not sure I'll read the whole thing, I'm more likely to choose a cheaper, single first volume (and there are a whole lot of series I've ended up buying and reading because they gave me the first book free or close to it, I liked it, and bought the rest).

All at once, but if it had to be seperate books I would be ok with all 3 released in a year not one book a year. A book every 3-4 months.

I get confused when reading a trilogy that's merged as one book. I have no idea of knowing how far I've gotten into the first or second book. For me it makes a difference to know how far into the story I've come. Last edited by thinkpad; 08-07-2012 at 05:46 AM. | |

Speaking as someone who bought a 3-in-1 pbook, I have to say that it looks nice on the shelf, but it is heavy to to hold while reading, so I don't think that I would choose one like this again. When it comes to ebooks, is there any reason not to have both options? As for all at once or just a couple of months apart, my personal choice would be all at once. I don't know the reasons why separate would be more useful for the publisher or for the author, but if you choose to go this way, I would suggest that you make if very clear that the next books are going to be available in a couple of months and even if you go for the all at one option it should be clear that it is a trilogy so the readers would know what they should expect. |

Single books is my first choice as some of the books I like usually have 1000+ pages so three books together would be like holding a phone directory lol.

printed I agree - seperate e-book one volume with all three books that way I don't have to remember which comes next. I have that problem with my audible books and the Wheel of Time series. |
