The books import fine into Calibre. When I trý a conversion from AZW3 to MOBI I get an error message despite tools being in place. Hence, the books are in Calibre but they stay there as I try to get into the K3. This is in no way a major problem, more annoying than anything else. The MOBI books I have on the K3 moves fine into the K4, not the other way though.

No, you don't need anything. There's no "tool" configuration for K4PC - it just works. You only need IDs, etc, for an actual Kindle device.

Thanks, I also noticed that the books to the K4PC was in AZW format not AZW3. So it seems there is a difference.

Hmm, just downloaded K4PC and took down my books from UK Amazon.
When I try to add them to Calibre I get: K4MobiXXXXXX v.0.3.8 Error: No key found. Can the reason be that the Kindle and its device ID is the US version? While the books I want to add are from the UK site? |

If you have updated Calibre recently, you need to go into the Preferences panel and find the list of formats recognized by Calibre - and check the AZW3 box.

No, that's only for having Calibre use its internal viewer for AZW3 files. Nothing to do with adding books.

I did check that box, and it still won't recognize the books when I try to add them, even when adding the AZW files from K4PC. I get the error message, if I then ignore that the book will appear in Calibre, but conversion is no longer possible. Very strange. Even tried removing the devices' registration numbers and then adding from the K4PC files, same behavior.
