According to Amazon, it sounds like the conversion will be transparent to users of existing devices. This is addressed to publishers:

Stick with your K3. It's a solid reader. I own one with 3G and will not get rid of it. It has near white background with deep, dark, black text.

We don't know yet if the Touch will have the same screen as the K4 which varies but mine is light grey with light black text. If it does have the same screen it'll be a roll of the dice if you get good contrast on your reader or not. I'm hoping they go back to the original K3 quality screen for the Touch.

It seems to work for some still with just a 3G Kindle. It doesn't seem to work for those who own a K4 and a K3 though.

You sound cheap too! It's a good thing!

The weird thing is, I used to be able to send documents to my DX with *name*@free.kindle.com. They were delivered with my limit set to $0.00 and though 3G. (No WiFi on a DX.) I'm not sure if they were delivered for free, or not.

oh man when are the covers going to be 50% off? I don't like taking my Kindle outside without a cover and I don't have anything to put it in until then.

No way in hell I would spend $50 for a case..

The offer showed up yesterday. It's random though. It's either for Kindle Keyboard or Kindle 4. I got a Kindle Keyboard offer and have Emailed support asking them to honor it for a Kindle 4 cover. So far no response but it's a weekend. Look in your special offers it should be in there.

I thought, for sure, they'd wait until after the Touch was shipping to issue this offer. It seems kind of silly/unfair to offer the deal to K4 users but not KTouch users.

Agreed but seeing K4 owners are getting it for the Kindle Keyboard covers it's of no use to alot of us.

Wait a sec, the offer is for a K3 cover **OR** a K4 cover, but it's not the user's choice as to which?

I imagine them offering K3 covers to K4 owners, and K4 covers to K3 owners!

That can't be right. I must be misunderstanding something. Maybe they'll offer K4 covers to Touch buyers! (In which case we should all keep an eye on the Flea Market forum! )

No misunderstanding that's how it's done. The offer comes in two random choices and it's not Kindle specific.

Yep I agree. I tried through chat to get it changed with no luck so I tried email and haven't heard anything back. I suppose I could call them again but at this point I'm ready to say just forget it. I'll get a cover elsewhere when they come out or on ebay later.

Edit: Well I gave it one more go! I did another chat with Kindle Support got a good one this time. Got my 50% off discount and now have a K4 cover on order.
