Yes, but we've known that for weeks. Bookeen said a long time ago that only a French dictionary would be supplied. Given that they are selling primarily in the French marketplace, that makes sense for them.

145.41 Euro + approx 23.50 euro postage to Australia comes out at just about $200AUD. Looks and sounds like a nice reader but just a bit too pricey for me when compared to the T1.

Yes, you're right, it makes sense, but it would make even more sense for them (and for us

) if they would offer some specification like Onyx/Bebook (one can use stardict-dictionaries) or Pocketbook (they published the specification and a converter) have done so that one can add dictionaries in one's own language or that dictionary companies can produce and sell them. I can imagine that having a dictionary or not is a k.o.-criteria for quite a lot of people.

It is, I'm sorry to say. I really am interested in this one, but unless there will be a possibilty to add other dictionaries, it will be useless to me, although I would love to have the HSIS webbrowsing experience.

I believe they have said that they will publish a dictionary specification but, as you know, Bookeen are not always the most rapid company to do these things!

According to the pictures on this French website, the white in the Cybook Odyssey is greyer than that of the Kindle 4. But the black is darker. In the end the contrast is slightly less good (green bar). The percentages are comparisons with a page of text straight out of a printer.

I saw a lot of re-tapping to get it to recognize the tap.

It is a capacity screen, not an IR touch screen like in the Sony, Kobo, Nook and Kindle. Maybe that why it is somewhat inaccurate.

capacitive is what is used in iphones and such. sony prs-600 was a resistive touch screen. not sure why the poster above seems to think capacitive should be worse than IR. it is the technology most modern devices seem to use..
