My Kindle just updated to 3.3

Hmm, I was hoping the 3.3 fw is to let you return library books from your kindle. I guess we still don't know what it does.

mine says 3.2.1 too. I don't recall what it said before. I'm Canadian. I'll see if the lending library thing works here as US sometimes says only US but sometimes that includes their northern neighbours (that's right not neighbors) like amazon's toll free number for US customers works for me...

If you do a google search for 3.3 firmware this thread is the only thing you will find mentioning it, taking a look at amazons boards there is no mention of it at all. I think it is just a myth :P

my public library (Canada) does offer ereader books and uses overdrive... however, i did not see the kindle ereader device listed.

they do state this:
eBook Readers and Portable Devices…

Was yours at 3.2 before it updated to version 3.3? Mine's still at 3.1 (3G+wifi with no ads). I went to a wifi hotspot yesterday and it didn't update.

My understanding is that the Kindles with ads were sold with 3.2. I believe that version was on recently purchased Kindles without ads too. Those of us who have Kindles that had 3.1 never had access to 3.2, and the latest version at Amazon is still 3.1. So I'm just wondering if only those that had 3.2 before will be getting 3.3.

I've got a KSO WiFi that came with 3.2.1. I'm still at 3.2.1 even though I've tried repeatedly to update by Syncing a dozen times over the past few days, but nothing. My WiFi has been on and connected constantly. Either this alleged 3.3 FW is being cautiously tested by Amazon, or perhaps this is a hoax. I too Googled the 3.3 FW and could find only references to this thread as a hit.

I noticed before if there is pending upgrade (our kindle has still old version) there is announcement on amazon website in "pending deliveries" page. Something like: "connect with wi-fi to upgrade kindle". So people who have 3g version can check whether they should find hotspot.

Two days ago I blogged the v3.3 thing with a screen capture of one.

The v3.3 is going over the air so far to both K3 SO's and regular K3's that had v3.1 on them before.

It would be a combo of giving normal K3's the option of getting Special Offers and also probably help screen messages for the library lending (like the 3G not being usable and what to do maybe).

And I sure hope they update the DX -- they said a larger software upgrade would go to all Latest Gen Kindles.

The AmazonLocal was "part of" a larger softwar update to latest gen Kindles, they said, which would come in a few 'weeks'...
