With the Agency pricing for books from the big six in the US, there's no price incentive to buy from iBooks. There's simply no reason to buy from iBooks unless you don't know any better. Everyone here knows better. |

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...8&postcount=11 Sony leads the avoid-like-the-plague list but they at least have *some* supporters. B&N seems to also run on the minus side in the love/hate rankings, while Amazon for all the carping and FUD dished on them comes out well ahead. Interesting exercise. How do you people shop at Kobo? Every time I compare prices between Amazon, B&N and Kobo, Kobo is the most expensive one.
Plus, their "preview book" feature is absolutely crappy. |

B&N because their gift cards are on the rack next to the greeting cards and all my friends and family were easily trainable.
Before the price fix I would have said Fictionwise; easy to use website, sales, a handy weekly e-mail of new books, and my favorite the ability to leave a list of favorite authors so that I would receive a notice when something new was added. Why doesn't everyone do that? I was a sucker every time for those notices. |

I don't understand Fictionwise. Everything I hear about it sounds awesome, but their website is so confusing to me that I can barely get past the homepage. Am I just stupid? ![]() |

Fictionwise were bought by B&N. They haven't had any development since. They can't list any agency publishers' books because of their existing discount schemes. They're dropped all DRMed formats except the dreadful eReader.
OTOH, they do have a decent catalogue of DRM-free multiformat titles from minor publishers. |

Well, if I could actually access anything other than public domain stuff, I would vote for it. I really like the app and the interface, it's esthetically pleasing and it would be nice if I could get all my books in just one app. But I guess that's life; we don't get everything we want.

I like BeWrite books followed by Smashwords if I'm actually going to buy books. Now that I've joined a library that lends ebooks I won't be buying any very often, although the cheaper prices at these stores make it much more tempting.
