I just noticed my Kobo Touch turning on today randomly after I had shut it down myself. 1.9.6

I've had the same thing happen.
Sleep and Power Off are set. I've been just putting it to sleep and letting it power off on the timer. The problem never shows up. |

Yay for the power of necromancy! :P
Anyways, despite being at 1.9.9, this issue has cropped up again - two days ago and now this morning. :/ Guess it's back to turning it back to 5 minutes power-off each night. ![]() |

I had this issue crop up in 1.9.9 as well, though resolved by doing a factory reset.. I t hink it was a database error that was driving the failure.
I think the problem is not so much that Kobo is turning itself on, but rather, Kobo is failing to shut down. Sure, you see the "Shut Down Screen", but by definition, the kobo has to draw that screen before it actually shutdown. There is no other visibile indicator to prove that the device has shut down (other than the drain, or lack thereof, on battery after 24 hrs.). Hense, if the Kobo silently fails to finish shut down sequence, the timer to 'sleep' mode keeps on ticking and does it's thing. It would be nice if Kobo could just re-build the database. I tried deleting the database file prior to factory reset, but then, the Kobo just got stuck in an infinite "processing content." Last edited by rashkae; 08-26-2011 at 10:55 AM. |

Just upgraded to 1.9.10. Testing this issue now by setting sleep to 15min and power off to never. I will let you all know.

Well I tested it twice. Once for around 20 minutes and the issue did not happen. I turned it back on and flipped though about 10 pages in my book, then turned it off from within the book. It's been 45 minutes and it's still turned off.
I think this issue is solved! |

Doubt you'll actually know until you've had it off overnight for a week or so. Seems to only happen on mine when it's off sometime between 1am and 4am. When I'm up to 4am and sleeping 'til noon (like the last few weeks - my sleep schedule buggers up so easily and is so hard to reset back to proper hours

Sadly your right. My Kobo turned on by itself with the update. Oh well.

I just noticed this is still happening for me! 1.9.10. I just saw it happen with the Kobo beside me. I realise now that I have found in sleep mode sometimes after powering it off too.

On or not on.
I have been told that eink devices use batt-power only when changing the display. And then it's supposed to only draw a single mini-mircro-nano-pico- Watt.
I guess it aint so. Just an example: "A Feast for Crows" has 1281 pages in a comfortable font and size on my ancient(10 y.o.) ereader. Since this is a recent novel I know that I needed to recharge(while reading) exactly 3 times. Acually two and a half times, since there was a significant charge left at the end. Some eink products used to be advertised with 10000(yes, ten thousand) page turns to a single charge. Now it just seems they give you, perhaps, a month or two. What the Ef does that mean? |

Ditto. I have the 1.9.10 and it sometimes is in sleep mode in the morning even though I powered it off before going to bed.

Was looking through the firmware and noticed some code.
Code:
/usr/local/Kobo/pickel disable.rtc.alarm |
