Up and Down instead of Left and Right. That sounds confusing.
Is this something that can be changed by settings? Last edited by thinkpad; 07-12-2011 at 03:08 PM. |

![]() I am seriously considering getting one of these just to have an ePub reader. But, I'm still waiting for the Kindle / library stuff to release before deciding. BOb |

Seems the features are stripped down according to reviews. One person said they keep going back to their Kindle 3 because of that. Improved resolution is one thing, features missing that people are accustomed to are something else. How many are willing to ditch their current devices? I know firmware updates can come very quickly (look at the Kobo Touch). Will have to keep an eye on the progress.

The I River Story is available in Australia for 3 x the US price (!!!!) and we can't buy books from Google. So there goes 20 million customers. (OK - we aren't all going to buy one, but why ignore the market?). Australian MR members will be very unsurprised by this piece of news - same old, same old.

Also, the Story HD isn't set to be sold in Australia for another month yet. iRiver is launching it in Oceania in August. Pricing hasn't been set yet, but it should be comparible to the US price tag. Also, the Story HD WILL include Google Books support in Australia. The only snag is that Google Books Australia hasn't launched yet, so if you want to use Google Books before that happens (Which, Google says it is in the works), you will need a US google account. |

And I can't do that with collections without having gazillions of collections on the Home screen. I appreciate the option of having collections but as a complete replace of folders nope. I would be awesome if there was something like collections of collections or something similar. Another problem with collection is that if I don't organize it right away and the new tag disappears, I don't have any way to tell if all the books already have at least one collection or not. (If there is a way to see on the kindle without going to Add to Collection for each book please tell me) P.S.: I don't know if the collections system of the Sony is the same as the Kindle, worse or better, so if the Sony system is different do tell me. And sorry for the off topic discussion ![]() P.P.S.: I've been thinking in changing permanently to Duokan so I could organize things with folders. |

The Sony collections are, in my opinion, very elegant. I use three columns in Calibre to indicate #Genre, #Source (B&N, Baen, etc.), and #Reviewed (since I'm a hobbyist reviewer. This is a yea/nay/dnf field).
The data is loaded to my Sony reader as collections, so the Sony Collections look like: fiction (fantasy) -- 301 books source (baen) -- 27 books review (dnf) -- 3 books Note that there can be overlap between the collections. For my Pocketbook reader, I load the files from Calibre to a folder structure that prioritizes #Genre, then #Review, and ignores #Source because I didn't want to get TOO nested. Thus, on my Pocketbook, the folder structure would look like: fiction (fantasy) -- review (dnf) -- review (reviewed) -- review (unreviewed) fiction (horror and scifi) -- review (dnf) -- review (reviewed) -- review (unreviewed) And so on. I do like having the folder structure option, but I much prefer the immediacy of the Sony Collections. And, of course, with PRS+ you can still browse the Sony folders (which I load in the same manner as the Pocketbook). It's a plethora of choices for the modern eReader consumer! ![]() Quote:

Maybe the problem is that I like to fine tune the organization. Like your Fantasy collection of 300 would have many things that are so much different from each other.
In your case, to know which ones are reviewed or even separate them by rating makes sense to have collections, doing that with folders would be too cluttered I think. |
