The answer is no, iPhone sales have not slowed. Apple is still selling every single device they can manufacture. Android, for all it's great growth, is affecting the business of companies other than Apple. I'll consider this debate dead (and won) unless you have evidence to the contrary, of course. ![]() Last edited by RockdaMan; 06-27-2011 at 05:48 PM. |

So if HP/Palm sold 1,000 more units than they did last quarter, they're on the rebound, even if their share went down?
Your total sales going up doesn't really mean jack if your competitor's sales are going up faster and they're eating away at your market share. |

And while they are still growing unit wise they are growing much slower than the market as a whole --- just like Nokia and RIM did last year. RIMs sales figures have been going up, however, nobody has declared them big winners, as far as I can see. So if you think that increasing sales at a much slower rate than the competition and the market as a whole is an Apple "victory", then you have indeed "won" the debate. ![]() WebOS is probably has the best human interface of all mobile devices, much better than Android, iOS, RIM, and Windows. It's too bad Palm's marketing decisions stalled the product long enough for it's competitors to bury it. HP does have high hopes for this OS, lets see if they can realize their expectations. Quote:

The fact that people mention the A.B.A. crowd (which consists of those interested in technology and those burned by fruity products and policies), but rarely the much more aggressive N.B.A. (Nothing But Apple) crowd speaks volumes for Apple's marketing prowess.
Coming back to the HP, it is rather sad that such a wonderful OS is stuck in such sad hardware (thick and heavy). And we know HP can do so much better --- besides, they had plenty of time. |

Thank you. That was essentially my point. iPhone sales may be going up from quarter to quarter, but Android sales are going up faster, and they're selling more. That's only "winning" for Apple in the Charlie Sheen sense of the word.

No, your point was that Apple iPhone sales were slowing and that Apple was being trounced. In no sense of the word is that happening when they are breaking both their own sales and profit records quarter by quarter.
But lets divorce the OS from the discussion and talk about the hardware -- after all, Apple does both hw and sw while Google mostly does just one (rightly so--wasn't the nexus one a sales disaster?) How many of Google's partners (HTC, Samsung, etc) have a single cell phone model that is outsells the iPhone on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis? |

I'm not so sure. Windows 8 (which will have a proper tablet version) could be a serious rival. At the end of the day people buy computers to run programs on, and people want to run pretty much the same stuff on a tablet that they do on their laptop or desktop PC.
