I've seen a definite increase in ebook readers recently, especially with the younger generations. When I asked an acquaintance what she liked about her Nook Color, she said it was the convenience and not having to lug around a bunch of books in her bag.

I don't think I'd switch it out for school books yet. That's a hands on thing to me still (said unpacking the latest museum catalogs from Amazon). A full on "study session" I like lots of post-it for the good book, highligher for the others, and lots of flipping. Just can't be comfortable doing all of that easily yet.

But my head has gone from having the reader to put my paperbacks on, to it is "my book", ok a bunch of my books.

Once folks get over the, it's a new gadget, or for tech folks only, we'll see more of them around.

I'd say Pride & Prejudice still rings much closer to us than most super-hero comic books. Heck, even the Iliad is much close in themes to us than most super-hero comic books. Why? Because they are centered around common human dramas and human weaknesses, even though they too might have fantasy elements as background. Super-hero comic books usually focus on countless variations of "super folks try to get on with normal lives while getting beaten by super baddies until finally prevailing" and that's about it -- save one Alan Moore here, a Frank Miller there.

Calvin is much too awesome either way.
