You simply can't understand what we are talking about if you don't use a freehand drawing problem. Try draw and share. Anyway, i'm very pleased to see "phantom touches resolved" in the May update release. FOR robot: I tried sometimes the procedure that you used on video and i'm convinced that your "experiment" is not correct. If you try to draw a lot of point in the same area of the screen you will soon notice the lines, so it seems like the problem could be generated in any area of the screen. My guess is that sometimes the layer treats under-treshold data (like the one is generated near the point you touched) as real data and since the controller can't handle multitouch (you can see the same thing happening if you touch simultaneously two point, the screen will draw a line) it draw a line that connect the two points, creating the problem. It could be an hardware problem but also a software/firmware one, i think. |

Leadlight, you're right. There's two reasons:
1. Is android touchscreen engine which is too fast and optimised for capacitive screens, which is bad for CPU consumption and screen resposiveness on resistive screens. It's a small problem which can be fixed in last version of android. 2. Is a wong aligment of touchscreen layer. If you look at the screen from side (so that the eyes would have been at the screen level, and the screen must be lighted from side), then you will see that when you tap the screen, it pushes on a sufficiently large area, and not just at pressed spot. This is due to the fact that LSD, touchscreen and hardbody are not parallel, but with slight variations in height. You can also notice this while watching the sensations of pressure on the screen with your finger. At some places, the screen seems softer than others. This is a big problem that can be reduced, but can not be solved completely without reassembling of the device. |

You can read about touchscreen's problems here for exapmle http://labs.moto.com/robot_touchscreen_analysis/ for example.

Did you spoke with the entourage support on this problem? It would be interesting to hear their response. From a theoretical point of view, it could be possible to address the issue by ignoring (in the touch engine) the touches that are too far from the first touch event and too near in time [cause we will probably always have a (small) delta time between the real touch and the phantom touch] but i don't know about the problems of such implementations. |

Wow, I just got the update -- I can't believe how much better the LCD responsiveness is! No more misclicks halfway down the screen, and I can actually type on the keyboard... with my fingers!! I am absolutely thrilled. The Entourage Team has made my day!

I've personally never had a problem with my LCD screen. It worked really well for me as long as I used my fingernail or stylus. But now it works with my finger tip like a capacitive screen. How is this possible? I've never experienced a resistive screen that works this way. Magic indeed.

Leadlight explained how it was done in the post above. But there's steel small problem with finger scrolling (scrolling saddenly stopped, or an item in the midle of scrolled list opened), and I'm not sure if it's possible to fix by software.
