ilovejedd points out that (at $200) everyone can afford a laptop.

It's not the price it's the weight/bulk. I might go for an ipad ($600+), but with that machine I'll be really tempted to get gps etc.

I wouldn't overdo it.

Just last week, I just saw a ACER Netbook model with a 250 Gig hard drive equivalent to mine on sale at FRYS for $189.

These little guys are called "Netbooks" because they are about size and weight of a medium sized hardback book.

My Netbook weighs in at only about 2.7 pounds.

There are even more compact units available now, but I like the size profile of my machine, because it has the advantage of having what they call a '90% sized keyboard layout' (effectively full sized) so touch typing is a breeze.

Don't underestimate these tiny inexpensive Netbooks.

The Atom CPU in mine benchmarks at about TWICE the speed of the 700MHz Pentium CPU in my older laptop.

I have it set up to boot both Linux and Windows 7 and it works really well in both.

It even handles flash video reasonably well in both Linux and Windows 7, which is more than I can say for some full sized desktop systems I have seen.

Just buy with DRM-free stores on the go and do the drag & drop thingy. There is Smashwordswww.smashwords.com, Bean, epubbooks, our library here... There are more, have a look at the sticky in the Sony forums.
