thanks for the info. I guess C.H. is ending the series at 13 books and this one is necessary for the story. But if it's not that good I definitely don't want to pay almost $15 for a digital copy that I can't return.

That would be a great idea.

The thing is that for most people there are always plenty of books that they want to read, so price can come into the decision making process.

For me I will do one of the only things I can when a publisher does stupid things like charging ebooks higher than the paper edition and that is to buy another book that I want to read.

If there is a book that I really want to read, I bite the bullet and buy it. I am currently reading a new softback which cost $29.99.

*****

There are so many books that have good reputations that I have never read. My problem is finding books that are in print.

*****

I enjoy my jetBook Lite, but I have no problem with the idea of buying a paperback cheap from an Amazon Marketplace seller. I understand people who object to an eBook costing more than its hard copy. What I do not share with many here is the strong desire to read the eBook rather than the less expensive hard copy.

I've got no problem reading paper books. I am a member of the Doubleday Book Club. Sometimes (not often enough!) they have a sale which is...Buy One Get One Free with Free Shipping. When that happens, I buy two omnibuses which contain two or three novels each for $6.99, so it works out to $1.40 per novel.

Between the MR library, Munseys and koland's Free Amazon threads, I think I've downloaded enough free eBooks to last me the rest of my life! I share CWatkinsNash's view that it doesn't take much arm twisting to get me to download a free eBook.

I don't really judge books based on price, but I rarely see one that I want over 12$.
