My tech savvy is spotty, even though I work in software development--I am more or less a power user at home. I leave hardware installation to my husband or the work IT department, I can read a manual and follow directions, and there isn't much XML-related I can't do as that is my job. I can do some scripting also and have input into software development but my real expertise is data analysis.

Slightly better than the average person. I know how to reformat my computer...after all, I got much practice after I broke my third computer. =d LOL.

I get along with computers better than I get along with most people. I'm pretty good with most hardware and software issues. I could build my own, and have done so for someone else, but I really don't have much desire to. I find them to be much more interesting when they come already assembled.
![]() I'm primarily a Windows girl, but I know my way around a Mac when I need to, like when my roommate has issues with his G5. When I was in Florida, I did tech support for a community of a few hundred retirees. (Fortunately, not all of them had computers.) I usually got paid in baked goods. |

As an amusing aside, the day after i voted in this thread, my power source gave out in my largest computer. So I'll be spending the evening pulling everything out and rebuilding into a new case with a new power source.

Not when you are upgrading to a power source that wont't fit in the case that you have. Also, each component (mobo, graphics card, sound card, CPU, drives and hard drives) have thier own power cord running from the power source. Even if my new power source did fit in my current case, I'd still have to take half the components out to get the power wired into components underneath them.
