I'm also one of those average readers who doesn't give a good damn about reviewing books I've read. Too much effort. I'll probably tell a friend about them though. If I really enjoyed it I might leave a review. If I hated the book I might leave a review. All the middling books that I enjoy (the majority) I'm usually not moved enough to make the effort.
I too could not give a flip about most errors as long as they are not glaring or constant through the whole story. Or something like ever 10th page being out of order. Otherwise as long as I can read it without distraction I am not a grammar Nazi. Even minor speeling errors read fine most of the time.

I do feel that authors should not take it for granted that readers will consider the price savings in exchange for editing errors. That tells me the author does not care to give their work their best effort. People like that also are why we have Walmarts of the world dominating at the retail side of the equation. I do want a book as perfectly edited as possible. I would probably drop reading an author who shows the same errors of complacency in every book they offer for sale. That is plain lazy. Then again I expect most authors write because they are too lazy to hold a "real job"...same reason I write software, I'm a lazy , lazy man.

Sadly, it's my fault. I never checked it out.

I recall being interested in her Brother Cadfael stories but the price drove me away. Looking at the used prices on Amazon they don't look too bad.

I still have to wonder about the high price on the "new" books.

I just downloaded one of her Brother Cadfael stories from the Free Library of Philadelphia and will see if I like it as much as I think I will.

I often do a lot of driving for work and have found audiobooks FAR better than the radio or my own music compilations.
