So If I receive a text, from an unknown source, with no attribution given as to the author, what am I to do? Not read the text?? I think not. Is it now the readers duty to determine that everything they read falls within the legalities of their countries copyright system?
That sounds ridiculous to me, especially now that copyright is no longer needed when our network is able to distribute wealth to the most meaningful creators according to their creations importance to the network. |

There you go again giggles. Yes, you clearly know in most cases whether you are accepting stolen property or not. It up to you to have the ethical fortitude to do the right thing. Anything else is ridiculous and will result in the destruction of society. Let's start with you sending me whats in your bank account and your retirement account. You do have a retirement account, right? you're not expecting society to provide you with free room and board are you? |

every progress which mankind has made was initially ferociously opposed by reactionaries who always warned of a true apocalypse if any backward and immoral aspect of our society are abolished or even disobeyed. that is par for the course. in fact, we should expect that. after all, once somebody has fully assimilated corporate-speak terms like 'piracy' he/she is unlikely to do much critical thinking.
FYI - here is a great book about this mindset. Have a great-week end, cheers! |

On thing I do believe is inevitable is that the current publishers must change their ways. They are actively blocking establishment of a new way of publishing books - ebooks in particular because they are attempting to maintain the status quo. Changing the way a business works is a very different thing than claiming that the product has no value and should be free. That is not how society works, it will never work that way because of human nature. The kids these days (perhaps you two) think they are entitled to have everything laid out before them for free. They've never had to actually work for a living, never had to strive to obtain something, never had to pay the price to survive. Do you know why? It's because all the prior generation sacrificed life, limb and fortunes to make this country (U.S.A. - and many countries around the world) beacons of prosperity to provide comfort, shelter, and an easy life for their children. And look at what it has become. A society of entitlement, whiners and slackers that think everything should be free. |

That book's in PDF format, what I'll do is download, convert to Epub, then reupload with payment link to author if possible.
Nothing is free in this universe, what I am suggesting is probably similar to your rethinking publishing ideas. I expect people to pay for things that are worthy. To this end it is a simple step to making all digital content freely available to all with the expectations of payment to be made after download, not prior. Just a little reversal you see! ![]() |
