You're welcome! Thank you you for the Karma,as well. (*likes karma - makes Nyssa happy )

Yeah, those subscriptions can build up quickly. Jgaiser's idea is a good one. Instead of turning subscriptions off, I usually just try tot remember to do some house cleaning every once in a while. I'll either delete the subscription or move the post to one of my many folders.

Just looking at the calendar and I realized that "Hammered" should be arriving here next week, since I pre-ordered that one too. Release date is set for July 5th. That'll be a nice post-Fourth-of-July present.

Thank you for recommending this series! I loved Hounded and Hexed, and started Hammered today. Yay for Atticus and Oberon!

I emailed Kobo to ask them to stock Hexed. Hopefully they will soon, along with Hammered.

I'm really glad everyone is enjoying this series! Sometimes when you recommend a book it just doesn't click with the person who tries it on your recommendation, but with this series it seems like people who don't like it are in a small minority. I think it's in a large part because Kevin Hearne didn't box himself in regarding the mythologies and he presents the supernaturals and immortals as just as devious and cranky as the humans; speaking for myself, I'm getting a kick out of all the various players in the game.

Came home tonight and an Amazon box was sitting at my door with "Hammered" in it. I know that I'm not going to be able to wait to read it.

One of the things I really lovea bout this series is that the narrative voice is just delightful and witty. I read the opening paragraph of _Hounded_ and I was just hooked.

reading the new book slowly on chapter 9 now, but so far my favorite parts are :

Spoiler:
With about ten miles to go, near the trunk of Yggdrasil but still miles away from the root leading to Jötunheim, my acute case of Smug turned to a gibbering case of Oh, Shit! I believe that’s a bona fide psychological term; if it isn’t, it should be.

I present my facts to a candid world: When a person steals anything from anyone and runs away, the first thing they say when they realize they’re being chased is “Oh, shit!” in whatever language they spoke as a child. It’s really not possible to say anything else at that point. Some Britons cling to long-standing tradition and say “Oh, bugger!” first, but once they confirm that they are, in fact, being chased, they invariably correct course and join the rest of humanity in saying “Shit!”

and

Spoiler:
“I cannot promise you, Oberon,” I said, regret tingeing my voice, and I could tell he was disappointed. “But, look, it is good to have a dream so long as you do not let it gnaw at the substance of your present. I have seen men consumed by their dreams, and it is a sour business. If you cling too tightly to a dream—a poodle bitch or a personal sausage chef or whatever—then you miss the felicity of your heart beating and the smell of the grass growing and the sounds lizards make when you run through the neighborhood with your friend. Your dream should be like a favorite old bone that you savor and cherish and chew upon gently. Then, rather than stealing from you a wasted sigh or the life of an idle hour, it nourishes you, and you become strangely contented by nostalgia for a possible future, so juicy with possibility and redolent of sautéed garlic and decadent slabs of bacon that you feel full when you’ve eaten nothing. And then, one fine day when the sun smiles upon your snout, when the time is right, you bite down hard. The dream is yours. And then you chew on the next one.”

and

Spoiler:
In many ways, I’m disappointed that Star Trek never became a religion. The archetypal skeleton was there, but they never strove to make it anything more than a TV show. If they’d capitalized on it, then its adherents would have orders from the nebulous gods of the Federation to explore new worlds and boldly go where no one has gone before; the crew of the Enterprise could have been minor gods—angels, perhaps—guiding us through our personal frontiers on a daily basis. Spock could have been the angel of logic on your left shoulder, pointing out fallacious reasoning and suggesting courses of action based on mountains of evidence, while Kirk could have been the angel of emotion on your right shoulder, exhorting you to gird your loins, check your gut, and follow your instincts.

Only half way through the new book myself, but far and away the best laughs and quotes of any book I have ever read.

Most recent great quote:
Spoiler:
"What's so funny?"
"The next time someone asks me if I've been saved by Jesus, I can tell them truthfully I have. I can tell 'em you're my savior. And they will misinterpret that deliciously."

Spoiler:
"Come to Jesus", the man said, smiling hugely, with his arms open, inviting embrace.

That was one of my favorites so far.

Along with:

Spoiler:
"Oh, now I'll be worryin' about ye!, she fretted. "I'll be watching me Wheel of Fortune and some daft man will buy a vowel and it'll be an "A", and then I'll wonder where that mad boy Atticus is and what frightful things he's up to."

"You didn't used to think I was mad", I said.

"Well, that was before ye went around losin' yer ears and growin' em back again, growin' so fast it's like one o' those bloody Chia Pet commercials."

And....

Spoiler:
"I think we got us a chariot race, boys." I was so proud of myself for staying so calm. What I really wanted to do was scream, "GO! F*CKING GO! GO! GO!" But the three of us were all supposed to be badasses. Besides our lives, there were serious testosterone points at stake here. None of us could betray a moment's concern or we'd be mocked mercilessly by the others.

Can't wait to start this! It's probably going to be my next read - unless I can manage to "forget" I have it so the wait for the next one won't be so long!

I couldn't wait. I figured I'd listen to the audiobook version when I finally go on vacation - lol.

But I'm pacing myself reading the book. I'm not picking it up until it's late in the evening and then only reading a bit at a time, just to make it last.

Just finished hammered a couple of days ago. It was a good read but there wasn't nearly enough Oberon in this book.

I am really enjoying "Hounded". I picked it up because of this thread. Thank you for the recommendation!

i believe it's hexed then hammered if you're currently enjoying hounded and if you wanted to read them in order.

Yes, "Hexed" is the second book in the series. Reading them in order is best, due to the story arc. Glad to hear you are enjoying the book.

We've got enough people now for a road trip to Rúla Búla....
