Yup - what Carol said (who by the way was very instrumental in getting me up and running with sync). My apologies for not being clearer.

@Carol - the root for the iPad is exactly like the iPhone. DiskAid opens right up to the correct directory even.

Thanks chilady. I think we kind of helped each other out along the way.

I kind of thought the ipad would be the same.

Great forums and help here at MobileRead. I'm so glad I found it.

I'm using DiskAid and don't see the kindleapp/library/ebooks folder. I don't see the root folder and the help says the iPad needs to be jailbroken to access root. Is this the case? If so, I don't think iPad 2 is jailbroken yet.

UPDATE: Nevermind, I see this question has already been answered. Needed to change the advanced options to show root path. Everything works great now. Thanks!

Do you have to use disk aid (or similar) or can I just use Calibre to transfer them to my iPad?
