Digital Trends
Digital Trends is sucking this out of their thumb. The Vatican statement said that it's not possible to obtain absolution via an app. The app doesn't claim to offer this, and never did. It was advertised an an aid to traditional confession, not as a replacement.

Once again - the Vatican has not denounced the app. What they've denounced are suggestions that were made by the media. As I said before, you're confusing jocular statements made by the press with the app itself.

Are there more and more possible distractions in the world? Yes. Can we choose our own distractions? Yes. Can we control how others choose them? No. Never could.

that's a very common sense answer and one that I don't disagree with.
however, what we can not choose is the medium itself.
In a world full of hyperlinked articles and multitudes to explore online, we are reading less and remembering less.
I'd say it's pretty indisputable.

Not sure where the debate has moved to at this point, but I'll leave you to it.

I focus on my reading, rather than on others', I admit.

I stand corrected! The Vatican has not disapproved the app which it says can not be used to actually confess your sins but only help you find, remember and list them. You must see a priest for the actual confession just as it it says in my Bible in I Timothy 2:5.

As of this writing the Confession app stands at #27 of top paid iPad apps, only slightly below Resident Evil at #20. Is there some connection here that I am missing?

Lots of tools that do this.

I used to have a book that contained letters from crusaders and at least one new guy in the Holy Land physically turned a Muslim around because he was not facing west...
